sonicshoulder
This was on the tv as I laid in bed because my wife likes "to see what everyone is wearing". I watched pretty much the entire broadcast. I thought almost the entire three hours was more awkward and poorly performed than my already low expectations. The Prince tribute was pretty well done and while I've heard of Tyler the Creator I had no idea what he sounded like and although its not exactly my cup of tea I thought his performance was really creative and captivating. First time hearing Demi Lovato sing and I thought her voice was impressive. Besides that the Aerosmith performance was sad, like in a "I feel sorry for you guys" kinda way. The Gary Clark Jr song was disappointing. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were nauseating. Jonas Brothers....Lil Nas X accompanied by a Korean boy band....Ariana Grande filmed a porno on stage.... Maybe I should just limit my music on TV watching to my local public broadcasting network. The night before I watched a Newgrass festival from Bowling Green as I fell asleep....Sam Bush > Billie Eilish.
uncool2pillow
I liked Lizzo. I liked Usher, but thought the Prince tribute could have been better.
tinnitus photography
I thought Tyler was great. I actually enjoyed the Lil Nas X bit too. Prince died nearly three years ago; they hadn't already done a tribute to him?
TCP
The fact that David Berman wasn't honoured in the In Memoriam tells you everything you need to know about the Grammys.
mountain bed
That was not Joey Kramer onstage, was it? Walk This Way - Drummer goes, boom-BAP-boom boom BAP. I know (as well as everybody here) it goes, boom-BAP-ba boom boom boom- BAP. That kinda pissed me off. The fact that David Berman wasn't honoured in the In Memoriam tells you everything you need to know about the Grammys. No Robert Hunter? REALLY? JFC.

That kinda pissed me off. That's Lord of the Thighs. Walk This Way is boom BAP ba boom boom BAP. One less boom before the second BAP. I didn't watch it, but it sounds like the drummer on the Grammys missed the ba. Any half-way decent drummer would know it's the ba that gives that groove its character, and it's inexcusable that they didn't play it right.

Chez
I hate-watched it, but thoroughly enjoyed Lizzo and Lil Nas X.
dagwave
Berman and Hunter (sigh) agreed, though I bet they might be sardonically pleased in a way with the omission. gotta admit, Grammys are appointment television for me every year- love the (over) production, the train wrecks (looking at you this year Aerosmith, karmas a sweet emotion), the fashion, collabs..haha all of the peacock pageantry. and Alicia Keys once again, wow. An aside: my daughter and friend busted their asses to get to the Anthem (in Washington) this past fall to see Billie. I gave her permission to call off from her job at the pizza shop. “Just tell them the truth”, I lied. First time she missed a shift. I’m thinking she made the right choice. tinnitus photography
a friend told me that Drag City isn't part of the RIAA so their artists are under no consideration. i mean, in the grand scheme of things a tiny percentage of people who watched the Grammys would know who DCB was, but to a lot of people who did, he was more important than Neil Peart to them (myself included and I like Rush). It's a super close cousin. One less boom.
