theashtraysays
This is a little tough to read (multiple timelines going on at once) but very interesting so far - about halfway through.

gogo
And I'm hoping to get his new one for Christmas: Recommendation for fans of music biographies, or true-life mystery (it's on a bunch of end-of-year Best lists): And for seasonal funsies, YA-ish Christmas-y rom-com (heavy on the rom) short stories:
Oil Can Boyd
I am not a gamer but I really enjoyed this book.

I didn't know anyone still wrote books in that hysterical realism style, but glad to find they do. I don't think you need to be a gamer, I would say I have not really been one for about 25 years but I've still kept an interest in what is going on and picked up a controller occasionally. The detail of game development is part of what makes it such a richly detailed world. There were a few things in it where I thought if you didn't know games you would probably want to have a google to figure out what the characters were talking about! Oil Can Boyd
Just picked up Long Island, Colm Tóibín's follow-up to Brooklyn. I saw him read from it last night. He's a pretty entertaining guy.
Albert Tatlock
Dark Matter by Michelle Paver. Not reading but listening. Spooky stuff and the readers voice is great to doze off to. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000c4pv/episodes/player
Chez
Maybe my favorite book ever.

After I gave up on Thomas Mann (I think I might be done with books older than about 1945).

I started listening pretty early on but there's a lot I didn't know.
gogo
I have not read this, but this exchange looks like something this crowd would be interested in. (screenshots posted by the author on Threads)

Given all the things that Wilco have been I'm struggling to imagine a book that would read that way.

I’m going to keep an eye out for it at my library, anyway.
uncool2pillow
Reading Bob Spitz's Beatles biography (is it a biography if it's about a band?). Good stuff. When they were in Hamburg, a promoter told them they needed to be better showmen, he would yell at them "Macht Schau!" (make show). I want a band to release a live album called "Macht Schau!"
