This sure didn't take long. Yeah! The thought of Joe and Tommy going out for linguini must have every Italian restraunt in town giddy with delight!

Oh, the irony.

Not the whole thing, and no, technically it's not Jeff's, but... Sometimes I think I'm gonna lose my mind But it don't look like I ever do I've loved so many people everywhere I went Some too much, and others not enough Well I don't know I may go Down or up or anywhere But I feel Like this scribbling might stay Maybe if I hadn't seen so much hard feelings I might not could've felt other people's So when you think of me, if and when you do Just say, "Well, another man's done gone" Well, another man's done gone

Which begs the question... why are you even reading this thread?* As for the rape allegations, no, I don't know if he did or didn't either. It just smelled more than a little fishy on both sides. He could have easily been set up, but he sure didn't handle it well. From Wiki(take it with a grain of salt)pedia: *Yes, you are more than welcome to, and have every right to express your opinion. I just find it confusing.

Wow. Joe Torre wearing Dodger blue and hanging out with Tommy Lasorda? Weird. Good, but weird.
-
Umm... technically, yeah. But what has he done without Shaq? He wanted it to be HIS team and he got his wish. With his recent track record, would you want YOUR team to be HIS team? As a Laker fan he is so hard to root for. I'll be watching a game and he'll do something spectacular and I'll start cheering... and then realize, "Oh. Yeah. He's that guy who did that thing. Uck." I don't really follow B-ball except for the Lakers, so I don't really know that much about the people rumored in the trade... but I'll still take them. Goodbye Kobe. Don't let your ego hit you in the ass on the wa

RE: Andrew Bird - nevermind. Just realized he has dates in Europe at the same time as Wilco, but in different countries.

The worrisome/messed up part of all this is the lack of proper explanation as to why the cancellations. Kind of makes me wonder if everyone's ok. But didn't they play shows after the announcement but before the GB shows? And if they are ok, then what is up? Some sort of visa trouble? Dispute with the shows' promoter? I'm still hoping that it's because they're re-rehearsing with Andrew Bird so he can learn all the songs when he joins the band.

Well, well, well. Shows what I know. I'm also the guy who called a Phillies/Indians series. Goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway... despite my earlier statements, Torre is obviously the superior manager so I won't exactly be crying in my [insert name of trendy drink that would stereotype me as living in LA] if he were to replace Little.
-
Really? I thought that even with the end of the year meltdown Grady Little did a good job. Would I rather have Torre? Sure. But I don't really see them jumping ship on Little just yet. EDIT: I don't know where Torre will go, but Girardi is apparantly going to NY. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3085167

Oh, Lord. That's preposterous. Torre will be doing some broadcasting (he was the Angels color guy before managing) or enjoying an early retirement. Rivera is too old to think about using as a replacement for Saito, who was one of the best in either league. ARod won't be coming to THIS end of town because despite what one might think, we really don't have that much cash. McCourt had to beg, borrow and steal to afford to buy the team to begin with. I'd much rather spend the $ on Torii Hunter and scrap Juan "I'm really speedy but I just LOVE to hit weak fly balls" Pierre. ARod'll be wearing a h

Wow. That indeed sounds sucky. Glad you're through the worst of it and have better days ahead soon. Enjoy the sofa time as much as possible! If you get bored just start a political or religious thread and wait for the inevitible fireworks.

Maybe the 'Andrew Bird is the 7th member of Wilco' comment that Jeff made the other day is true and they're taking some time off to rehearse with him. (Probably not going to happen, but if it does I wanted to have this post to refer back to and bask in the glory of my Nostradamus-esque brilliance.)

Louie - Hope you're on the mend! Feel better - we can't have the voice of reason around here out of commission for too long! BTW - Benjamin (formerly Kenobi); nice work with the Natalie Dee web comic! Her site, my friend's blog and this little dog & pony show are the main 3 things I peruse on the internets everyday. Sorry to hijack - now send more vibes to Lou!

Sammy Hagar is 60? Holy crap!

Kingston Trio - ST/Live at the hungry i Self-titled debut paired with their follow-up live album. Yeah, we all know about Tom Dooley, but there's more to it than that. Maybe for me there is because I grew up on this, with my super KT fan dad spinning the original vinyl on a regular basis. Their live show is far funnier than you'd imagine. After spending 39 years with this album I even have the between-song banter memorized. The song Gue Gue on the live album (a french lullaby) is the first song I sang to my twins in the hospital - just the way I always imagined doing ever since I could imagine

Uh, no. If they were THE greatest they would have given all of us that stuff. I for one am still waiting for mine. I say they are merely 7th or 8th. (That is really cool Sarah. Thank you for not actually crapping your pants.)

No way! That one rules!

Misspoken or Misunderstood phrases
Mr. Kinsley replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yeah, I've definitely heard both of these in my classroom. (Or should I say definately?) They used to really bug me, but it is a cultural thing. With 'axe,' if the parents say it too, I don't give the kids too rough of a time, though I do try to point it out gently sometimes. Mines on the other hand, I don't let that one slide. No real reason for it. I always ask them, "How many of you are there?" To which they always give me a Here's a fantastic reference! -
I miss the days of getting home-made stuff like candy apples or cookies. The world is too freaky a place to let your kids accept anything like that now.

Oh, forgot to mention - my avatar (in case it's too small for you to figure it out) is Johnny Ramone's statue at his grave in Hollywood Forever cemetary. Shot was taken at last year's Dia de los Muertos festival (not by me.)

Rather unfortunate typo - fixed it for ya.

We got the same costume for our little girl! Out boy is going to be a lion.

Pair this thread with the "Andrew Bird is going to join Wilco" thread, and more than a few people's heads around here might just explode from sheer giddiness.
