  1. But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities. None of us really has a choice but to 'take our chances', and I get little satisfaction from paying attention to this stuff. You don't need to share my peculiar interest in unprecedented actions of the our current federal government. Bush is no genius, and likely not evil; he's a puppet.
  2. Well, I didn't make that statement, but many have cataloged the steps to dictatorship. They've certainly poised themselves to suspend civil liberties, and the government does indeed have large detention camps in every state. Definitively? How should I know what evil lurks in their tiny dictatorial minds? It honestly doesn't concern you that US combat troops are stationed for duty in the US? My best guess is they'll be on hand at the very least to quell dissent ... so much for free speech, the right to peaceably assemble, etc.
  3. Chris, you may want to take off your hat and indulge in a little research.
  4. exactly. This has been in the works a long time. Along with massive detention camps.
  5. 11. I had to do it by squinting.
  6. I wonder how quickly we'll see a brigade become a division, or a corps. Brigade - 3,000 to 5,000 solders. A brigade headquarters commands the tactical operation of two to five organic or attached combat battalions. Normally commanded by a colonel with a command sergeant major as senior NCO, brigades are employed on independent or semi-independent operations. Armored cavalry, ranger and special forces units this size are categorized as regiments or groups. Division - 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers. Usually consisting of three brigade-sized elements and commanded by a major general, divisions a

  8. I agree the debates should be open, and there should be a lot more of them.
  9. "young people" The administration admits they are railroading congress, again. White House Dispatches Team to Push Economic Bill The White House today is drumming up extraordinary pressure on Congress to approve its plan to enact a $700 billion mortgage bailout fund, suggesting the markets cannot wait much longer and dispatching Vice President Cheney and other top officials up Pennsylvania Avenue to jawbone lawmakers. [White House Deputy Press Secretary Tony] Fratto said it would be "unthinkable" for Congress not to pass legislation this week, asserting the result would b

  11. Chin up, Lou. And we're finally seeing some press and legal action on election theft scenarios. Hope it's enough.
  12. Whose turn was it to keep an eye on Cheney? That fucker makes me nervous when he's out of sight.
  13. I thought I was hallucinating when I heard Newt blasting the bailout and found myself agreeing with him.
  14. very happy birthday amigo. can you even look at the board?
  15. huh. If Wall Street doesn't like it, they must be doing something right.
  16. couple good articles on the Wall Street bailout by Robert Reich and William Greider. Greider in The Nation -- bailout a historic swindle Reich in TPM -- the strings that should be attached to the blank check for Wall Street
  17. excellent work sir! Liked the cameo at the end.
  18. yes, entirely disgusting. I still have the scar on my jawline.
  19. Apparently, YOU don't know what I'm talking about. Don't let them tell you this economic meltdown is a complicated mess. It's not. Our national financial crisis is readily understood by anyone who has seen greed and hypocrisy. But we are now witnessing them on a profound, monumental scale. Conservative Republicans always want the government to stay out of business and avoid regulation as long as they are making lots of money. When their greed, however, gets them into a fix, they are the first to cry out for rules and laws and taxpayer money to bail out their businesses. Obviously, Repu
