Five Wilco songs you can't stand to listen to.......
cryptique replied to Sparky speaks's topic in Just A Fan
Yeah, I love "Radio Cure." I included "Less Than You Think" on my list solely because of the drone. The musical portion of that song is good. That I included it at all merely speaks to how strong I believe the Wilco catalog is, overall -- I was struggling to come up with five, so the drone made the list. -
I do not "text."

Lions trade WR Roy Williams to Dallas for the Cowboys' 1st-, 3rd-, and 6th-round picks in next year's draft (the Lions will send their 7th-round pick to Dallas). story

Yup, saw them at Metro.

Being both a huge Big Star fan and a huge Posies fan, I'll probably pick this up at some point.

Back in the day, I took great pains to ensure that my CDs were arranged in exactly this manner -- alphabetically by artist, then by release date. And that they were all shelved in the same way (though probably not the way Jay did it). Then I moved in with Melissa and my collection got relegated to the basement, and I just haven't had the chance to keep it up to my previous standards.

I went through a multiple-day Myers-Briggs seminar with my entire department a few years ago as part of some kind of team-building thing. We did a fairly thorough typing of everyone. I'm an INTP. Out of a department of nineteen, there were only three extroverts. But we're writers, so that's probably no big surprise.

Oooo, discount.

I saw them once in '90 and once on the reunion tour ... and while I agree that they seemed to just be running through the tunes for the money on their recent tour, I thought they put on a pretty good show nonetheless. Not like in their prime, but worth the ticket price.

Reindeer is pretty good, from what I hear. -

My five: Kingpin -- to me, this is the worst song in the Wilco canon Woodgrain Spiders (Kidsmoke) -- too long, and not enough happening, though this song works much better live Less Than You Think -- I don't have the patience to sit through the drone What Light -
King Kaufman took Lovie Smith to task for the squib kick at the end of the Bears game yesterday. I agree with Kaufman. The squib is virtually never a good idea. Smith's excuses are BS.

Sly & The Family Stone Come Gigolo Aunts I was also going to list The Jesus & Mary Chain, but Wikipedia indicates that they've reformed and have a new album in the works. Same goes for Superdrag

I'd like to see Swag put out another album and do a tour. Catchall is a pretty great record.

The Monkees

Stiff Little Fingers. Yes, I know they're still technically together, but I'd like to see the Burns-Cluney-McMordie-Falloon lineup (or I'd settle for Reilly instead of Falloon).

I wish I thought this could ever happen, but I think Morrissey will stick to his guns and it'll never come to pass. Others I'd pay to see, if enough original members were involved: The J. Geils Band Buffalo Springfield Moby Grape The (English) Beat (would have to include Steele/Cox) Whiskeytown

If you're going to listen to a silly band, it really should be the Ramones.
-
They're a really silly band. Put on some Ramones, purge the garbage from your head, and forget about them.

Wow. Looks like Alabama ascends to #1 on their off week. The Gators really handed the Tigers their asses tonight.

A lot of his early stuff is great.

No, you're absolutely right. But every once in a while something is said on talk radio that is so unbelievably stupid, so completely and irretrievably moronic, that it bears mentioning. This comment is pretty harmless in the overall scheme of things (it's about a retired basketball player and won't affect the state of the world in any meaningful way), but it definitely stood out to me, perhaps precisely because of its relatively insignificant subject.

Minneapolis talk-radio idiots claim that Magic Johnson faked AIDS. Unbefuckinglievable. Click the mediamatters.org link below for a bit more on this. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Talk radio hosts: Magic faked AIDS MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Magic Johnson says he's outraged that a pair of Minneapolis talk radio hosts accused him of faking AIDS. KTLK's Chris Baker and Langdon Perry made the remarks during Baker's conservative talk show on Wednesday. The context for the remarks wasn't clear.
