"No" on all counts.

Let's give socialism a try! edit: Of course, that's what a lot of people think this bailout deal is.

Wall Street was overrated.

No way in hell does Gonzalez get that. It'll be Piniella or maybe Charlie Manuel. I'm a White Sox fan and would love to give it to him, but I think it'll be Pedroia or Justin Morneau.

If you'd asked me five years ago which would happen first -- Plant touring with Led Zeppelin or Guns N Roses releasing Chinese Democracy -- I probably would have said Plant touring. Well, that's too bad, but I can't say I blame Plant for not wanting to do it.

I hope you're right, but you're a wee bit premature.

I don't know how I'll manage it, but money's no object for this one.

Michigan pulling out the win against Wisconsin is definitely crazy.

The Tar Heels just might beat Miami on the road. edit: they had to come up with a weird interception in the end zone to do it, but they held on.

Hard to believe he's gone. One of the best ever to grace the silver screen.

It totally is. Check it out.

OK, I picked one: ...but I have honorable mentions that made the choice difficult: Calexico - Carried To Dust Billy Bragg - Mr. Love & Justice (bonus solo disc - better than full-band version) The Mommyheads - You're Not A Dream

Someone refresh my memory -- what all's been released this year?
-
Yes, but they did this.

If this involves your testicles getting caught in a fan, as your doctor I must advise you to steer clear of it.

So much for not spending a zillion dollars on concerts next year.

What a great early Christmas present. I wasn't expecting the first USC loss to happen while it was still September. I can only hope this removes them from the national championship picture (though it probably won't -- not yet). Now let's see who else can be toppled.

Hope it's a great one

Oh darn, no Detroit dates.

I think Kwame would probably run that team better than Millen did ... once he's out of jail. As for Millen ... I highly doubt he lives in the city, so he couldn't run.

But this is not what Steinbrenner said. He never called the Dodgers or any other playoff team "bad" or "mediocre." He merely referenced the difference in records between the Yankees and Dodgers.
-
It's his opinion that the Yankees are better than the Dodgers. His entire judgment of a team's quality is its won-loss record. The Yankees play in the American League, the Dodgers in the National League. They do not play the same competition. He's comparing records of teams that don't play the same opponents, so like it or not, it's apples and oranges. It is his subjective opinion that the Yankees are better than the Dodgers. It can be fairly argued that this is true, but it cannot be established as a incontrovertible fact. Ergo, he is factually incorrect.

US Combat Troops on Domestic Duty Oct 1
cryptique replied to viatroy's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I just worry that these troops could be used to extend Bush's term, if you know what I mean. -
There's a very real possibility that both the Angels and the Rays will finish with a better record than the Cubs. Does that mean that the Cubs aren't as good as the Angels or Rays? No, it means the Cubs play in a different league. And guess what? In the old days, when there weren't any divisions, there were sometimes two or more teams in one league that had better records than the best team in the other league. One of those "better" teams sat out the postseason. That's the way it works, and the way it's always worked. Someone always thinks they got screwed. Steinbrenner is acting like
