  1. Yeah, but... I don't know. I'm not convinced that this team can beat anyone in the playoffs -- assuming they get there. That said, their schedule isn't too difficult this year. The Titans should give them trouble (but that game's in Chicago), and I expect them to struggle against the Saints (at home) and to probably lose one game each to the Packers and Vikings. But they could probably wind up 10-6 without too much trouble, and maybe 11-5. If they can secure the home field for a round or two of the playoffs, who knows?
  2. She's highly competent, to be sure. And I am a fan. However, I'll take Sir Paul, Bruce Thomas, John Entwistle, Victor Wooten, John McVie, John Paul Jones, David Steele...
  3. Noel Redding I like Tina, but never thought she was one of the all-time greats.
  4. Hey, where did the blue skin go?
  5. So, the Bears looked pretty good today, but it was against the Lions, so I refuse to get too excited about it.
  6. The new song sounds pretty damned good. Thanks for the link!
  7. My only idea for an Obama sketch (which may have already been done -- I don't watch the show) is a riff on his rhetorical style. He would finish a campaign speech, then retreat to a hotel room (or campaign bus, or other venue) where he would interact with other people in person and on the phone. He would call his daughter's school to discuss some matter and adopt that same campaign-speech cadence on the phone (throwing in some familiar phrases, repackaged for the shift in context), then he'd dispense advice to an aide about polishing his jump shot (same cadence, similar use of phrases), then h
  8. Whether or not it actually is, many people would see the fist-bump thing as racist.
  9. I switched the channel to ABC right as that ^ show was ending.
  10. I'd love to see the Cardinals, but... 1. Not in a basketball arena. 2. Not with Oasis, who grate on my ears like few bands ever have.
  11. She probably paid too much for it. Saginaw is a shithole.
  12. Audio's not working for me at the office, but I'll have to check it out at home later to hear this one -- I'm a fan of Josh.
  13. I grew up just far enough away from Chicago (southwest Michigan) to be a fan of both teams. That said, I'm always a White Sox fan first.
  14. Sorry, uncool2pillow ... your Twins made a hell of a run at it, as they often do. I'm continually impressed with what they're able to do with their payroll. That's an organization that is clearly doing things right, and if they weren't in the Sox's division, I'd cheer for them. (Now they just need a real stadium.)
  15. I repeat: If they tour without Plant, I would hope that they use a name other than Led Zeppelin. Call it the Page/Jones Band or something.
  16. Farley was useless, and I have never found Sandler 1/10 as funny as everyone else seems to. However, those were definitely among the show's best years (mostly due to Myers/Carvey/Hartman).
  17. I think your comment says more about the state of modern "conservatism" than anything else. That movement was long ago hijacked by a constituency with a wholly different agenda. These days, it's the "liberals" who are conservatives. The "conservatives" are reactionaries. Your counterargument is worse. You didn't even bother to refute the point.
  18. My job involves writing documentation for accounting software. We might come through this OK (seems like accountants would be more valuable now than ever, but maybe I'm wrong?). Problem is, our corporate parent is one of the major suppliers of information to the financial industry.
