  1. Is that the crust that your feet stick to beneath your seat?
  2. I don't know about Denver, but there is (was?) a place in Chicago that serves such goodies. I believe it's called the Original Pancake House.
  3. Are we still going on about this? To sum up: PK shootouts suck. Nobody, even the most fanatical soccer fan, likes them. Some other way should be found to resolve important matches. We can't agree on what that way should be. Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah: Jeter is overrated.
  4. "You mentioned blowjobs twice." "I like blowjobs." (With apologies to Mel Brooks)
  5. I attribute that to men accounting for 84% of people damn foolish enough to be out in thunderstorms. This morning's bit of knowledge: There's an Atari 2600 emulator called Stella. While I was waiting for a contractor to show up at my house this morning, I downloaded/installed this and tracked down the ROM for "Pitfall!" -- which I then spent the better part of an hour playing.
  6. ME: Hi, Dude's boss? It's Dude's mom. I'm coming to pick up Dude from work because he has a stomach ache. BOSS: Who? ME: Dude. BOSS: Who's Dude? ME: Um ... Lebowski? BOSS: I'm calling the police, sir.

  8. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into this when I get a chance. Hey Lou, if anyone would know this it might be you ... I have been trying to remember the name of a label I saw a feature about a few years ago. I don't remember too much about the feature (or even whether it was something I read, saw on TV, or heard on the radio), but I seem to recall that it was a small operation in Ohio or somewhere that was releasing extremely obscure old blues and/or soul recordings. This was supposed to be terrific stuff that few people had ever heard ... but I've forgotten the name of the label and I'm not e
  9. Watch the replay. Absolutely nothing questionable about it. It was a much more clear-cut instance than many that are called. The replay doesn't lie. The old NASL shootout was better -- rather than midfield, there was a 35-yard line, and I think the shooter only had five seconds to get a shot off. I liked that 35-yard line for its other function, too: you could only be offside beyond that line, rather than the midline. It opened up the game.
  10. No argument here. Whether or not a TV announcer is "good," he's largely unnecessary and should spend most of the game with his mouth shut. Plus, when you turn the sound down on Fox you don't have to hear the stupid fucking "whoosh" sound every time one of their graphics moves on or off the screen. I hate, hate, HATE Fox sports telecasts.
  11. Agreed. I certainly won't defend Hawk on that one. He was once the general manager of the team, and I wouldn't have held it against him then -- but that was a long time ago. And yes, especially fans. If you refer to the team you root for with plural first-person pronouns, you need to get a life. (I've done it too, and I cringe every time I notice it.)
  12. > Love at First Sting Well played. Though personally, I do prefer:
  13. I lost sleep over it, woke up in a rotten mood, cut someone off on the highway, and robbed a liquor store. You really need to try harder not to offend me. America is depending on you.
  14. Nice stereotyping. I don't have anything against Green Day in general or Armstrong or particular, but his songwriting is merely average, and he's not someone I'd ever enshrine among "the most geniously [sic] expressive musicians."
  15. The way I see it, you have two major problems here: # 1 #2
  16. No, I mean who gives a shit about a "longest jam-band show" record? That's got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
  17. And again I say, that's an unfair characterization of Hawk and DJ. I've watched Hawk for at least 15 years and he's always been quick to point out good and bad calls on both sides... He's merely expressing what every other White Sox fan is thinking. There are days when the roles are reversed, and Hawk can be counted on to point out that the Sox pitchers are getting a favorable strike zone compared to the other team's pitchers. You're only seeing what you want to see with Hawk because you're obviously biased against the guy. I can understand not liking his personality or his catchphrases
  18. I understand perfectly why people don't like Hawk and DJ, but it's inaccurate to portray them as strict "homers" who think every call against the Sox is a bad call. They are the first ones to point out when a call goes the wrong way, regardless of which team was affected by it, and I can't remember the last time they tried to convince me that a correct call against the Sox was incorrect. I really prefer the local announcers to be pro-home team. It would bother me if the game were on ESPN and it was that way, but those guys are the White Sox broadcast team. Deal with it. I have to watch the T
