I haven't seen Rain, but if 1964: The Tribute come around, give some serious consideration to going. Those guys are an amazing facsimile of the real thing. They have so many of the mannerisms down, like George's little dance as he plays, and John's stance as he plays and sings. They even have a left-handed McCartney. From the balcony, they're pretty stunning (up close, you realize how little a couple of the guys look like the Beatles they portray, though the George looks eerily similar and the Ringo isn't too far off).

In 2016, they will have been 14 years ago.

Whew. 1000+ posts on this band that's been dormant for forty years. Time to close this one up, but please do continue the discussion in the next Beatles thread.

The other one passed 1000 posts, so here we are. Carry on.

Oh man. I just looked and they're playing near here on Saturday night (with Built to Spill). My friends and I were all big fans back in college. I'd love to see the original lineup, but I don't think I can make it, sadly.

I was reading a bit about Rio's chances recently. Rio has some obstacles to overcome that may be more daunting than anything Chicago faces. It hosted the Pan-American Games in 2007 and experienced enormous cost overruns (as in, ten times over projections for many projects) and was not able to fulfill many the promises it made in securing the Games, such as building new commuter train lines and cleaning up the pollution in the bay and elsewhere. There were also rampant problems with corruption and turf disputes between parties seeking to control the hundreds of millions of dollars in contract

My comment was more about the fact that he lives there. He and his jogging suit.

I'll look for my copy this evening. Maybe I can help you out.

Yeah, but you also have Oprah, Blago, and the Cubs. edit: and Billy Corgan.

Enjoying this. I don't have any big issue with the guy's voice. For some reason these guys are reminding me of The Fletcher Pratt, a fantastic but now defunct band from Detroit who put out a masterpiece called Nine By Nine several years ago.

Steely Dan put on a hell of a show.

Perhaps not quite to the MacNeil-Lehrer standard, but ESPN's "Outside the Lines" with Bob Ley is often outstanding.
-
What does this mean? Or did the reviewer mean to write "and their best in more than a quarter-century"? Looking forward to hearing it.

I think Chad Henne has a chance to be really good. Maybe he'll do that now. He could also turn out to be really disappointing.

...because the victim doesn't want him pursued further? She has supported his attempt to get the case dismissed. Aside from that, I got nothin'.

As does the phrase "solo performance."

A bit early to be talking about it, perhaps, but I wanted a place to post this: Friday, September 25, 2009 Pearl apologizes for off-the-cuff joke ESPN.com news services Tennessee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl is apologizing for an off-the-cuff joke he made about a rural area of the state at a charity fundraiser Thursday, calling it "inappropriate." Pearl, speaking without notes, was addressing Tennessee Valley Authority employees about the challenges he and his staff face in getting players from diverse backgrounds to play as a team. "I've got a tough job. I've got to put th

I think there was a bit of discussion about this in some other thread, but I don't recall where. Needed its own thread anyway. I'll repeat a comment I made earlier (somewhere): the "hip dad" actor is trying way too hard to channel Michael Scott, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. But overall, yeah, it was a pretty funny pilot. I've also been checking out "Community," and it too shows promise (I'm a Joel McHale fan, and to see him working with Chevy Chase is fun) ... but I don't know whether either of these shows will be able to sustain their early momentum over a whole season. I have

Grinnell. But back then it seemed like everyone crushed us in every sport (except swimming), so I may just be assuming that Luther did too.

I did not envy you your predicament, and am glad to hear it has been resolved favorably.

It's not about stuff like that. It's a matter of sound quality. Flipping the mono switch on your stereo versions will not sound the same as listening to the mono versions. The mono versions were mixed for mono; the stereo versions were mixed separately for stereo. Merely mashing the left and right channels together via a switch on your audio equipment results in a different and decidedly inferior listening experience to the original mono mixes, which are now available in all their glory. I have no problem acknowledging that buying both the stereo and mono box sets may be, to recycle your

Not the same thing, as previously noted in this thread (somewhere).

So it really is made out of cheese? -
If I recall correctly, you guys used to crush us in virtually every sport.
