Weird. My DVD player had some issues with a couple of the discs, and we missed a few scenes as a result -- but we had a feeling that we'd missed them (the time counter was my first clue), so we went back and futzed with the player and discs to see those scenes, which wasn't always easy to do. I thought it was an issue with my player, but it's never done it with any other discs, so perhaps it was a problem with the DVDs themselves (which came from Netflix, so that could be another factor).

My first reaction was "don't you mean wary?" But then I thought about it and yeah, he's weary of him too.

There's a little bit more Elvis in Amazon

That track with the skips is all better now. I think the corruption happened during my initial download. -

FYI, the last track of Frenzy has some skips in it. I'm trying to get Amazon to fix it ... they want me to try to re-download that track, which I can't do until this evening. Altogether, though, the quality seems pretty good ... though I haven't listened to all of it since I downloaded it last night. (If anyone else downloads Frenzy and doesn't hear skips in that track, please let me know!) -

Two breaking stories: Crabtree reportedly signs with 49ers Browns trade Braylon Edwards to the Jets Coincidence? Hmmmm.

Another SNL alum whose appeal I just don't understand.

I have. I'm not the only one, by a long shot.

You're agreeing with me (thanks) but I have to disagree about Farley. Untalented, unfunny, total disaster.

It was John Belushi. And yes, it was funnier.

Does this mean we get to see Nels Cline on ice skates?

There was , after all. Kind of.

Apparently Miguel Cabrera had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 at 6 AM on Saturday morning. No wonder he was hitless during the White Sox series. article column

Monty Python's Flying Circus debuted 40 years ago today (5 October). (And sadly, yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Graham Chapman's death.)

A-Rod had seven RBIs in one inning?

I saw them live several years back (approx. 1999) at the State Theatre in Kalamazoo, and they put on an excellent show. I had gone mostly to see the opener (Gigolo Aunts) but figured I'd probably enjoy the Counting Crows set too. Was pleasantly surprised by their performance. Can't say I'm a huge fan, but I have respect for them.

How much does NBC pay the referees in the Notre Dame games? That touchdown they took away from Washington on review was the biggest pile of steaming bullshit I think I've ever seen. Yes, it's possible that the ball didn't break the plain, but it's supposed to be INDISPUTABLE video evidence, and they sure as hell didn't have that. (That said, what was the "roughing the snapper" penalty they called on the Irish? Does that one even exist? Lousy attempt at a make-up call, if you ask me.) Fuck Notre Dame, their NBC contract, and their quarterback, the Rat-Faced Boy. Oh, and Michigan sucked

You think you can thumb your nose at the Mayans just because they're no longer around?

After. It'll be on or around December 21st. So at least Phelps will win some more gold medals first.

My girlfriend makes an excellent point: the world's supposed to end in 2012 anyway, so this is really no great loss to Chicago.

I blame Oprah. Not just for this.

Knowing Letterman, he'll keep telling such jokes, but now they'll have a self-referential twist. Maybe thirty years ago this would have been a fatal blow to Dave's television career, but I doubt it'll affect him greatly after the initial rush of publicity fades. I was sad to hear about the situation, but I can't say I'm ever surprised anymore to learn about such things.

I kind of expected that they'd side with Rio eventually, but for Chicago to be eliminated in the first round is a slap in the face.

These alone disqualify 1974 from the "worst year ever" debate. Also released in 1974: Radio City by Big Star.
