  1. really? i thought that it should of been split for each disc, making it a much closer race with SBS.
  2. beatles may have the most great songs of any group, but i think others have been just as good as a band. i dislike the "best there ever will be" sentiment, it's depressing. that's it? these four brits? the pinnacle, yesterday and forever? i don't believe it.
  3. 'Carnival of Light' is my personal favorite.
  4. you're all forgetting about Cry Baby Cry
  5. The Beatles had a singer by the name of John Lennon John Lennon cowrote the song "Fame" with David Bowie David Bowie curated the Highline Festival in 2007 An act of his chosing was Deerhoof Deerhoof opened for Wilco in 2005 not a strong connection, but Beatles to Wilco in five steps.
  6. i hate to nitpick, but when considering Wilco's discography, are Summerteeth and YHF their rock records? seeing how from Being There to Summerteeth they went from sloppy rock band one-takes to Jay and Jeff playing with ProTools and that, though they're not a necessity, electric guitars are scarce on YHF until ITMWLY, and while "Radio Cure" makes time stand still and speaks to my soul, it doesn't encourage me to rock out. I'd agree that YHF is up there for any kind of record ever, i just found 'rock' an odd qualifier for it. i think Being There wins the rock category.
  7. the older the beatles, the better the songs but i don't think they ever had the same energy to them as the first few albums. maybe because they were still a live band and recorded as a group. or maybe the weed mellowed them out.
  8. I chose AGIB because I think it is their best album.
  9. it's been around awhile, i even saw it in a movie theater. i also saw a VW ad with "Walken", didn't know that was one of the songs they sold their souls with.
  10. so he was running his mouth and he got what he deserved, huh?
  11. i think you just attacked him personally.
  12. What's the problem? She was arrested outside of the airport, I suspect she'll be tried outside of the airport too. I expect zero-tolerance at the airport, and it makes perfect sense that the police responded the way they did. but she may not have broken any laws.
  13. I must look like a complete fool to presume someone innocent when the only evidence of a hoax is that it sortof looks like it could be a bomb.
  14. yes, but was it with automatic weapons?
  15. i'd say most westernized countries would follow similar protocol, i bet the UK would've done it sans automatic weapons even. can we all agree that it's a good thing people aren't shot on site when it's unclear if they're even a threat?
  16. i'm not being contrarian. though i'm not committed to the idea that she's innocent, i think her story checks out. it seems plausible to me that she made that sweatshirt for career day and was unfortunately wearing it when waiting for her friend's arrival. it also seems unlikely to me that it was performance art because there has been no indication that she made any attempt for attention at the airport other than to ask about the arrival at the information desk. way too subtle for your average loony or rebel student. also, people see things as they want to. if this student was making a simple
  17. i could be wrong, but there's no evidence that the student was a 'bomb-maker', and while i don't blame information calling it in, from my point of view (having only seen military bombs and the kinds in the movies) i wouldn't call it a dead ringer for an explosive. there's a duracell battery connected by two wires to a small rectangular board. it's strange and suspicious, but since it appears to function as the 'art' she mentioned: decoration for career day, and not function as an explosive or copy any general design for a real explosive, there's enough doubt in my mind to say maybe she's innoc
  18. that's one scenario, another possibility is that it wasn't "performance art" but a tech-student's way of decorating their sweatshirt, totally unrelated to bombs or air travel.
  19. did Simpson mention "bomb" at the airport? i hadn't heard of that. and according to her story, it was art she made to stand out on career day, not "performance art" for anyone's sake at the airport.
  20. and if she mentioned the word bomb or designed her sweatshirt to look like one, i'd say lock her up. so life in prison? execution? i hope i'm never marked suspicious for the wrong reasons.
