  1. it wasn't half-assed, it was only half-answered, which was the best i could do since i don't own any of the out of print LPs.
  2. deerhoof - 'friend opportunity' is the only album that matters. its very good, anyway.
  3. i think i've heard all i was really waiting for this year. i will be checking out Super Furry Animals and MIA though.
  4. ok then, let's talk about what if Jeff had given the song to Solomon in time. would Solomon have sold out? do you think he's the least bit bitter about the pile of cash that might have been his?
  5. most of those were fun to read. The hysteria over VU & Nico never made much sense to me, but without it i might not have discovered the band. to me it serves as a necessary exaggeration to keep their name alive. also thanks to Wayne Coyne for confirming what I've always felt about Nevermind.
  6. Here I am listening to Please Please Me on my headphones while watching the Colbert Report, and Paul's commercial comes on. My mind is spinning.
  7. At times, You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) seems like a faster bouncier guitar version of I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet). Not that I'm complaining, it's my second favorite track. The ones I'm really having a hard time liking are Rag and Bone, where the talking may have ruined the music for me (Jack and Meg aren't close to being Bone Broke, why are the begging me for my junk?), it doesn't help that it comes after Little Cream Soda where the spoken lines worked well. I'm really put off by "Martyr", the guitar and drum pattern makes me think of Everlast for some
  8. B+ is pretty positive, even if it is with a bunch of A(-)'s. Christgau has always seemed to distrust Tweedy's capability, something I find amusing and somewhat refreshing even if I don't agree. Its much more entertaining than calling him a genius and trying to (seriously) get in his head. I much prefer reading Christgau's scenerio that SBS is the result of Jeff being nagged by his wife than all the attempts to relate it to his rehab or the stretches made to reconcile it with the whole Wilco catalog.
  9. "Heavy Metal Drummer" antagonizes a lot of people. Who cares about other people?
  10. Jim O'Rourke - Happy Days Cat Stevens - Teaser and the Firecat
  11. it's about as overhyped as Pet Sounds, it's also as solid as Pet Sounds.
  12. there are a few i like, but i was really turned off by prickly thorn/st andrew, which seemed jokey to me. and for a "heavier" album, no song immediately matches the insanity of Red Rain or Instinct Blues for me (just to compare it to their last effort).
  13. are good copies floating around or is this still a rip of that radio's stream?
  14. i'm not saying that sex or advertising is always wrong or right. but your wife's use of public transportation doesn't justify your overtime with the secretary.
  15. it might be similar to the difference between having sex with somebody and sitting next to them on a bus. we live in a world filled with people, doesn't mean you have to be in them.
  16. "Always In Love" is down-tempo?
  17. i'm upset that the commercials don't feature wilco members driving around in their v-dubs
