  1. what bagpipe? i'm pretty sure the bagpipe mentioned in the press is gonna be on the irishy tune "prickly thorn but sweetly worn".
  2. the wilco book is one of my favorites, great insight from the band, their techs, o'rourke, etc. i really learned a lot about what goes into the whole wilco production. plus great photographs/art, and a good essay from Miller that I already had. I need to listen to the CD again, it's been awhile. Adult Head feels like you stole one of Jeff's notebooks, which is cool, but seems one-dimensional compared to the wilcobook. which it's supposed to be, but still.
  3. oh the sisters of mercy, they are not departed or gone they were waiting for me when i thought that i just can't go on and they brought me their comfort and later they brought me this song oh i hope you run into them, you who've been traveling so long yes, you, you must leave everything that you cannot control it begins with your family, but soon it comes round to your soul well i've been where you're hanging and i think i can see how you're pinned when you're not feeling holy your loneliness says that you've sinned now they lay down beside me, i made my confession to them they touched bot
  4. All Smiles / Ten Readings of a Warning probably will be in my top 5 this year
  5. Ballad of Big Nothing / Elliott Smith Everything Means Nothing To Me / Elliott Smith All Or Nothin' / Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Nothing Up My Sleeve / Wilco "isn't"

  7. Icky's album art is much better than Satan's, which obviously means it's going to be a better album. I kind of dig all the WS albums the same, with De Stijl poking it's head above the rest because it seems the most unified. Typically, I find their albums to be more of a collection of songs, I can start and stop anywhere (mostly I stop on Elephant after "Hardest Button"). Satan is probably the worst or best case of this idea, I like all the songs, but Blue Orchid sounds like it's starting an entirely different record, and i kind of forget that some of the slower ballads exist in there because t
  8. Funny, it almost reads like you expect it to suck.
  9. Drozd plays most of the instruments you hear on their albums, but only Wayne gets to shoot the gong with a confetti gun.
  10. i thought that was awful, and i liked 'fine line' almost enough to check out the rest of that album.
  11. well, that's expected. now when someone actually produces the play as in real actors and real money going into it, i'd give it at least another week.
  12. I like it, I'm glad how natural it sounds (just guitar, piano, drums), he didn't go for a huge production or Grandaddy like soundscaping which I think was wise, sounds like someone trying to get their songwriting legs. "Moth..." is really good, "I Know It's Wrong" was the one that surprised me the most, the piano and drums are pretty damn catchy. Overall I wouldn't call it brilliant, but I've already gone through it three times today and might again, it has it's charm.
  13. Ten Readings of a Warning / All Smiles
  14. i think that's what he said. yep, that's what he said. pretty good.
