Great interview though. I really loved this:

Their delusions of persecution are just ... words fail me. It reminds me of something Barbara Amiel (the horrible, stick insect wife of the detestable Conrad Black) wrote in a magazine (!) about her husband's trial. (You go, Chicago!)

I think I just accidently discovered one of the most disturbing (non porn) sites on the Internets.

No kidding. In that case, she's got a few more pounds to go.

It's also pretty funny that he called them on this. Even funnier that the PF guy tries to justify it by citing their oh so credible source: "multiple fan accounts."
-
Yes, a reckless brat with no respect for the law or public safety. The "victim" mentality is laughable. Yuk.

Did you get tix? Someone on the GloNo board said that it "sold out within mere seconds."

I think this is my favourite!

I think Jack must be attracted to our colours (on a subconscious level). Either that, or he's addicted to Timbits.

That is a very good question. Imagine the White Stripes traveling via dogsled. How cool would that be? (Too bad they aren't playing Igloolik. But I won't quibble. Much.)

She's beautiful! Does she do those happy pug figure eights?

Unfortunately, I know what you mean. They attract very different audiences in Canada (where they're huge) and the US (where they're not). A couple of years ago, I saw Sloan two nights in a row, in Vancouver and Seattle. The show at the Commodore Ballroom attracted lots of drunk kids who enjoyed body surfing over a sea of broken pint glasses (why they don't serve beer in plastic cups, I'll never know ). The show at the tiny (!) Crocodile Cafe in Seattle drew an indie crowd which was very cool and enthusiastic. If you ever get a chance to see them in a small club in the States, it's a tre

Sloan played the Commodore last fall (October, I think). They seem to come here at least once a year, so maybe they'll appear again in the late summer or fall. And hopefully they won't play the same night as Wilco (unless they're touring with them).

So how was the show last night? Any memorable banter?

No respect.

Happy birthday Trish!

"No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time-a!"

Okay, here's my #1 quote (Russel, the aspiring serial killer in Roadkill) "Well, I've never really killed anyone before, but that's what I'm shooting for. That's my ambition. I know it's a hard profession, and it's a competive field and getting tougher every year. You have to kill about twenty people now before you're taken seriously. But let's face it, what other options do I have? There's not a lot of opportunities up here for social mobility. I mean, you can either become a hockey player or take up a life of crime, and I had weak ankles, so there ya go."

Not really a quote, but one of my favourite dialogues: Allan: That's quite a lovely Jackson Pollack, isn't it? Museum Girl: Yes, it is. Allan: What does it say to you? Museum Girl: It restates the negativeness of the universe. The hideous lonely emptiness of existence. Nothingness. The predicament of Man forced to live in a barren, Godless eternity like a tiny flame flickering in an immense void with nothing but waste, horror and degradation, forming a useless bleak straitjacket in a black absurd cosmos. Allan: What are you doing Saturday night? Museum Girl: Committing suicide. Allan:

Ah yes, that makes sense.

I'll have to pick that one up. Sounds like there may be a Leonard Cohen interview, too. (And who pays attention to him anymore?... besides me, that is.)

You mean I've been collecting signatures for my bring Wilco back to the west coast of North America petition for nothing?
