I agree. I was opposed to Vancouver/Whistler hosting the 2010 winter Olympics for the reasons you mention, but now that they're going ahead, I have to admit that I'm kind of excited about it. And at least we're finally going to get some rapid transit out to YVR! It would be very cool if Chicago hosted the 2016 summer Olympics. (It would probably be very hot as well.)

Maybe the CTU field agents wear diapers. Hey, if it works for astronauts.

I went to Tim's this afternoon and the triple chocolate doughnut was sold out!

Speaking of HWW, here's one about the Wood Spider that Sooz found (just in case you haven't seen it already).

Thanks for bumping this, Kyle. For some reason, I foolishly decided not to buy AF tix when they went on sale last weekend. Then I saw this thread and came to my senses. Fortunately, the venue is GA!

PS: Now craving one of those triple chocolate doughnuts from Tim Hortons. Damn you, CBC!

These stories always kill me. I once saw one about a woman who claimed that she couldn't lose weight because she snacked on junk food in her sleep! Guess what? Fill your cupboards and fridge with veggies and fruit instead of Doritos and you might just get those 5 servings every day!

I was just thinking about that quote. Here's the source: Vonnegut's Blues For America I miss him already.

When the writers have exhausted all of the usual enemies, I'm waiting for the "Canadian Bacon" season where the villians will be played by creepy Canadian actors who have starred in Atom Egoyan films (again) and David Cronenberg is Jack's nemesis. Maybe they will try to reform the US healthcare system and Shirley Douglas (Kiefer's mother) can make a cameo appearance, or something.

No matter how bad the current season gets, mocking it will always have entertainment value. For me, one of the best things about 24 is that it's secretly a comedy.

The worst thing about the Kim character was how utterly useless she was. Women viewers don't want to see that. Michelle, on the other hand, was beautiful, smart, courageous, and kicked ass (in season 3). Chloe is endearingly quirky and great at her job. Even the femme fatale stereotypes (e.g., Nina, Mia Kirshner) are clever and competant. I was also disappointed that Martha Logan turned out to be such an emotional lunatic in season 6 (instead of just being treated like one).

I just spent the last three months watching seasons 1-5, trying to catch up. The current season has had its moments, but I'm disappointed so far. I don't care if they rehash the lame loved one held hostage story again, just please god don't bring Jack's uber annoying daughter back. The beauty of watching the first five seasons on DVD was that I could skip all of the scenes with Kim in them.

I won't see you in June but I'll be there in spirit. Happy birthday Dave!

I don't need an alarm clock anymore (baby wakes up around 6:30 every day), but when I did, I used one that had a light that would flash for a few minutes before launching into a horribly annoying alarm. I really hated the alarm, so that always motivated me to get up and turn it off.

Crazy hippies! Truth is stranger than fiction, as the saying goes.

"... and all the lousy little poets coming round trying to sound like Charlie Manson." - Leonard Cohen

And Neil Young thought Charles Manson had talent. Didn't he try to help him get a record contract or something? (Not the greatest judge of character, that guy. Maybe that explains why he was a Reagan supporter in the 80s.)

But Stephen Stills actually did.

I thought she told that story. Actually, I think her version had something to do with Ted Bundy offering her a ride when she was heading home from a club, but she suddenly got creeped out and jumped out of the car. Or something.
