  1. So glad to see this Eric Byrnes guy on the post-game. He doesn't get enough run.
  2. Reilly gets all the pub, but he's never been the high point of the magazine for me. I do enjoy reading him though. Now when Steve Rushin left several months ao, THAT bummed me out. My favorite SI writer ever.
  3. I can't wait to see this. I remember as a kid, reading in a book about how to master the top video games, when it came to Donkey Kong, they advised you to actually play cross-handed -- that is to use your right hand on the joystick and your left hand on the jump button(assuming you're right-handed). So that's how I started playing, and I got plenty of funny looks, which were soon replaced by people just watching in awe as I shattered high score after high score. I remember scoring consistently in the low 200 thousands, which I understand is nothing compared to what these guys in the film wo
  4. When did the Eagles cut Donovan McNabb and sign Akili Smith?
  5. I wish they'd stop showing Connors in the stands. I really wanna root for Roddick in this one.
  6. I'm pretty pumped that USF actually got more votes this week than FSU.
  7. I'll bet he gets more than 18 months. Maybe way more. And rightly so.
  8. I thought JFC peaked at the end of episode three, with Shaunie skating on the half-pipe to that Muse song. At that point, I really thought HBO had once again struck gold. But most of the ensuing episodes lost me. Still, I want to check out the Deadwood dvds now.
  9. Anyone else seen this? I swear I've only encountered one other person that's even heard of it. HBO has had it On-Demand a couple of times. Insanely awesome serial-killer drama from Argentina. In thirteen one-hour parts. Just finished re-watching it and it's as powerful as the first time.
  10. I will give FOTC another chance, as many people I know with good taste seem to like it. More importantly, I am enthralled with John from Cincinnati. "I don't know Butchie, instead."
  11. Yeah, by all accounts, the Naples police on hand could not have handled that any worse. Still, even in his fifties, I wouldn't wanna fight Alex Lifeson.
  12. Man, I'm definitely not reading these books now. Sorry, thread-starter. Not that I ever held Neil Peart in that high of a regard, but I did love Rush growing up, I thought his lyrics were pretty effing great most of the time, and you know, his drumming and all of that. Beyond horrific what he went through, and I'm sure he's a master word-smith, but I'm just not in the mood for a downer road novel right now.
  13. I grew up going to Cocoa Beach, but the surfing bug never really bit me as a kid. I kind of regret it now. I can't get enough of watching surf documentaries like Step into Liquid or Endless Summer.
  14. Poltergeirst was PG, I'm pretty sure. It was one of the films that helped to create the PG-13 rating, IIRC. My mom dragged me to the drive-in to see The Omen when I was like seven. That music still gets to me.
  15. The important thing is that Phil died. What a piece of shit he was.
  16. What? Loved seeing Phil fuckig die, though. I'm crying, though. And I know my sign-on name sucks.
  17. I've heard the theory that it could be a cut-out of Daniel Baldwin from Cleaver. Like a promotional item or something. I don't know, it looks like Silvio to me.
  18. I know they're irrelevant to any serious baseball discussion, but just try to imagine being a Tampa Bay Devil Rays' fan. There was so much hope down here about how great it would finally be to have a major-league baseball team. Down-town St. Pete would be rocking, there would be a buzz about town that can only come from having a baseball team that mattered. And what's happened? The orginization is now much more of a joke than even the Tampa Bay Bucs' of the eighties could have ever hoped to be. I feel so bad for my dad and uncle who had season tickets from the start and who are now so
  19. I don't understand this thinking some people have that the Cavs could have easily swept the series. Scoreboard, and all of that stuff. I was hoping for a Pistons-Spurs final. There are a couple of supremely arrogant San Antonio fans on the other board I go to, and I really thought Detroit could have taken them out. Cleveland, I think, has little to no chance of doing so(and yes, I am a witness). Rasheed's wife must be like the strongest-minded woman ever.
  20. People in Ohio finally have something to cheer about.
  21. Pistons-Spurs is gonna be awesome. Every year we go through this with the officiating. I remember when Rick Smits was fouling Shaq out of games. Now that was some bullshit.
  22. I still can't believe Target doesn't carry Wilco.
  23. Thanks for the response so quickly. I justed wanted to know I wasn't a complete freak for loving Liz Phair.
  24. Okay, admittedly I'm pretty late on discovering her. I actually listened to self-titled before Exile in Guyville, so maybe my perspective is whacked. That self-titled album is so effing good. Somebody explain the hatred that that album inspired.
