#2 -- Put some Gibson pickups in it. I have found a lot of the stock Epi pickups are very muddy.

Which is too bad, because I thought it made for a pretty damn good song, cool video and part of a great album. Too bad the Stones raped them on the legal settlement -- I think it was all the money the album generated after recording costs.

My undertanding is that Rivers Cuomo poured his heart and soul into Pinkerton -- then it got panned. To the best of my recollection, Rolling Stone called it the worst album of 1996. So I think Cuomo just figured, "Fuck this" and decided pop garbage was easier to write. I was a big time Weezer fan up unitl the Green Album. That's the last one I bought.

My understanding is that he left a note. Perhaps that will provide some kind of reason.

Seriously, all the people on VC that post from their (boring) jobs everyday like I do -- who wouldn't accept a "VW Commercial" of sorts. That would be like some third party asking me if they could read my monthly report on TV for a couple extra months pay. Total no-brainer, IMO.

I agree. And Halloween Head is just bad, IMO. I'm still upset at the fact that Mrs. Lovely was butchered into These Girls. I agree also with the "disjointed" lyrics comment. I think (a couple pages back) someone said it was like Ryan was trying to fit too many syllables into one line.

Is that the, umm...Nintendo Wii version of Wilco? and is it pronounced Weeelco?

I got a cool book a couple years back, called (something like) Guitar Player's Guide to Maintenance and it suggested using very, very fine steel wool. I did this and I was amazed at how much brighter my guitar played. Just use a little bitty piece so you don't scratch your fretboard. How well does lemon oil on the neck work? I always use fretboard conditioner cause the wood grain "pores" are exposed, but it doesn't seem to help that much.

I'm almost done recording my first album (yippee!!) and am having serious thoughts on how to track it. This question perpetually bounces around my head. I kinda feel like the very first track really needs to grab people. period. The second track can be a sort of "setup" for the rest of the album. Or....it could be something totally different. See...perpetual bouncing

I have a love/hate relationship with keeping my guitars clean. I don't want to screw up the finish by leaving a big arm mark on them, but at the same time I kinda don't like a super clean guitar cause then I don't want to touch it. Case in point: I had a birthday recently and I got a guitar care kit. After at least an hour of haze removing, cleaning and polishing, my J-45 looks like glass. But I don't wanna even touch it.

True and I can't figure out why. Bookended by other great records? I'm just not sure. But, it still is a wonderful album.
