I found the Newsweek article to be great. I like the whole debate within conservative party, between the intellectuals and the "other" conservatives. Rush and I think FOX has definitely helped to bring the term "conservative" into the gutter. Of course Bush helped the most. I think the Frum and the rest of the intellectuals of the conservative party are thinking more about votes, rather than radio/TV ratings. They are looking toward the future elections. I think Frum is right when he implies that Rush is more concern provoking rather than coming up with any ideas and trying to persuade.

I always wondered what conversations Ron Tutt had with Jerry Garcia and Elvis during the 70's, while Tutt was playing in both their bands. It must of been weird for Tutt to go from a Elvis Vegas gig to a Garcia San Fran gig. Not to mention the interesting drugs that each camp must of had. My parents were teenagers during the 50's and were Elvis fans so there were plenty of Elvis records around the house. Mostly his 60's and beyond stuff. Though, now, I prefer his Sun Records stuff. Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden was one of the earliest records I remember playing when I was a kid.

That is pretty funny.

Yeah, I did not grab it before they yanked it, either.

The busts definitely suck. I think Moe brought up that Red Rocks will be watching what happens at Hampton. Do you think this upends the possible return to Red Rocks? The NY Times had a rather nicer story. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/10/arts/music/10phish.html?hp

The $60 tickets are going on sale some time this week on the Lolla website. -
http://www.newsweek.com/id/188279/page/1 This weeks Newsweek cover story on el Rushbo. Intellectual Conservative v. "What ever the kind Rush is" Conservative. The writer David Frum is gonna catch flack from all sides with the below.

I liked the new song. It seemed to start off a little bit rough, but the nice harmonies and the jam to the end was nice.

Saved is another one I never heard, before.

I don't own Under The Red Sky, either. Only heard a few of the songs in a live setting. Because of all the bad press on the album, I could never pull the trigger and buy it. I was in the same boat with his Shot of Love record (another "clunker") and I finally bought a used cd late last year and actually I like it quite a bit. So perhaps there's hope for Under The Red Sky (and Knocked Out Loaded and Down in the Groove, others I never listened to)

Steppin out is all live from England during the 72 tour. As far as cost goes I would purchase the cd's directly from dead.net It should be much cheaper. Even a 6 disk Dick's (the "biggest') is only $33. This being all said, I seem to remember in another thread that you won an Amazon gift card of sorts, so I guess that is why you getting it there. The dick's pick does seem a bit pricey though.

From Greg Kot.

You don't think the union is taking some responsibility?

Just notice this on the New Yorker page. I haven't read it all the way through, yet. I only read few of Wallace's pieces, (have not even attempted Jest, yet) and from what I read it is definitely great stuff. I watched parts of the the Charlie Rose's interview that was linked in this thread and I thought it was pretty fascinating. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/03...0309fa_fact_max

The above is his most recent band, I haven't heard that it is going change.

That would be nice. I am a fan but I probably would not see them by themselves. But it would be good they if are part of Lollapalooza. The Cure are being kicked around to play also, of course they always seemed to be rumored to play. But having both play would be like a 120 Minute Flashback.

I thought it was already illegal to sell any bootleg items with Phish (or any other band) likeness on them.

A nice piece in today's NY Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/05/arts/mus...ref=todayspaper from it: and I like this one too,

I just happen to throw on 1.9.00 tonight and J.P. sang a great (or least fun) version of Walt Whitman's Niece. I forgot about that one.

I gotta go with Some Girls, too. Song for song I don't think their is a weak one. Sticky Fingers is very close, but Knocking at times feels like it a bit long, though I love Taylor's solo. Let It Bleed has Country Honk and I was never was huge fan of Salt of the Earth on Beggars. All the records listed are great and I play most of them still quite a lot. Also Some Girls is my favorite on head phones; the guitars are mixed well and Keith and Ronnie's playing is great.

Updated info on new album. I am looking forward to the accordion. This year is already shaping up to be a great one for new releases.

I guess I forgot about that. I didn't realize they haven't played there since 96. I would think Red Rock's has recovered. Has Trey played any solo gigs there?

I pretty sure I saw Tweedy sing Igrid Bergman at Lounge Ax, once. I need to find the tape to confirm, though. or check WilcoBase 1998-03-26 1998-11-15
