  3. Well I think I have to hear this now and don't have a record player, the first person that gets this thing with vinyl rip, do us all a favor and lecture us about internet piracy and filesharing, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Don't upload directly to the thread, but we could certainly get an e-mail/PM chain going to get this out there. --Mike
  4. I first heard "I've Got Something On My Mind" by the Left Banke in CD Alley in Chapel Hill, I walked out with the There's Gonna Be A Storm comp. --Mike
  5. I only know the singles I remember hearing in high school or should I say the few seconds of the singles I heard while I was rushing to switch the radio dial or flip the channel. I don't want to get into it with anyone, if you like them great, but I absolutely despised this band when I was in high school and they were big, and for me I'd call them the Wham of my generation. Still, I think they probably hold up a lot better than their dreadful contemporaries of the time Kid Rock, Limp Biskit, or Dave Matthews. Should this band ever put out anything I am remotely interested though, I may have to
  6. You've officially hit Panther levels of ridiculousness with that statement. --Mike
  7. Ha ha ha. Watch out for Waste. If you want to hate Phish, hearing that song will make it damn hard to keep it up. Oh and welcome aboard. --Mike.
  8. My very first Pandora song was Can't Stand It. I decided to just keep one station over the three or four years I have been using it and just overload it with all the music I like to listen to, so everyonce and awhile I'll get like The Zombies going into John Coltrane going into Scott Walker going into Pavement going into David Cassidy (there's always one misfire each time, but I totally know all the words to Come On Get Happy). --Mike
  9. I think I forgot Jon Brion's Meaningless on mine. --Mike

  12. This still bums me out, Panther/Matthew certainly made this place more interesting and crazy. We need Nudie to pick up the slack and starting posting more crazy conspiracy threads if you're reading this, Nudie to paraphrase Rocky IV: "Panther was like my son. I raised him. And when he died or stopped posting here a part of me died or stopped posting here too. But now you're the one. You're the one that's gonna keep his spirit alive. You're the one that's gonna make sure that he didn't stop posting for nothing. Now you're gonna have to go through hell. Worse than any nightmare you ever dreamed.
  13. I assume the logic behind it is if someone buys a rock mag that hasn't heard of Wilco, but is still going to read the magazine front to back, they might not know the entire story. It's a little annoying from a fan's perspective for sure, but for instance when I was 16 and reading about Tweedy for the first time in Guitar World in 2002, I didn't know Uncle Tupelo from Tupelo Honey. My lineup comment was a little unnecessarily snarky, and actually pre-this lineup I really don't remember Jeff claiming it was the definitive version of Wilco. I still feel it's a little like Lou Reed saying the p
  14. Just finished an entire listen of Blinking Lights, aside from Tweedy there might not be a contemporary songwriter whose stuff I enjoy more. --Mike
  15. Funny I was thinking the same thing, it does seem a lot of Wilco features have involved cutting and pasting what's already been written about the band up to the point of the new release and then adding some current spin on it. I am sure if you dig hard enough Jeff's probably said "this is the best Wilco lineup" about each one, he was right if/when he said about the Tweedy/Bennett/Bach/Stirratt/Kotche lineup naturally. --Mike
  16. I might have to illegally download all of these (right now I have the Purple Chick sets on my ipod), if those are my options. --Mike
  17. Drag City picked up the High Llamas recently and I believe they handled Plush for awhile, before Liam Hayes ran up excessive studio bills trying to finish Fed, while The Chambers don't fit in with the majority of what that label releases, I am not sure it would be a huge stretch. Still, outside of Chicago very few people have heard these guys, and even when they were around they weren't that well known. It's a shame everyone I've played Month of Sundays for has absolutely loved it. --Mike
  18. I saw her and David at a small festival in North Carolina in 2006, they put on a hell of a show, I'd love to hear more from them. --Mike
  19. It bums me out that these guys are having trouble stirring up label interest. You'd think Drag City or Thrill Jockey would be all over them. Month of Sundays is phenomenal. --Mike
  20. To use a film analogy WTA is perhaps the Life Aquatic to SBS' Royal Tenenbaums. It's very much it's own thing, but there are certainly a lot similarities to be found. Bill Murray, however, does not appear on WTA. --Mike
  21. Wonderful job capturing the energy and uniqueness of that lineup, and I learned at one point Tweedy wanted to call "I'm The Man Who Loves You" Laminated Cat. Also, man I miss Jay Bennett. --Mike.
  22. Upon further review of the 2004 ACL performance on You Tube, I see what you mean. I also haven't seen Ashes yet, but I did watch the 2003 Soundstage DVD for the upteenth time yesterday because of my man crush on Leroy Bach. --Mike
  23. Awful story . Vibes to the friends and families of all those affected. --Mike
