  1. Oh Christ no (pun, perhaps, intented). I'd never encourage anyone to actually watch that movie, but reading the synopsis of how they work together was at least fairly interesting to me four or five years ago when I first read it. --Mike
  2. I understand what you're saying, but has anything with the six-piece really changed since 2004? Had you seen this lineup in concert before and also had these same feelings? Did you not know what Wilco circa-2008 (when it was filmed) sounds like? There are times when it feels like to my ears that they've got one instrument too many on some of their arrangements. I could certainly do without the funk keyboards on I'm The Man Who Loves You, the electric guitar on War on War, and I still prefer the boots from 2001-2003 with Jeff as the lead guitarist on most of the tracks. It's just generally d
  3. Crowman, I'll have you know I was actually outside, sitting on my apartment's stoop poaching free wireless from the parking lot, when I made that post, while drinking orange juice. However, living in Minnesota might prevent me from ever seeing the sun again. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to track down the article detailing Passion of The Christ's sync with A Ghost is Born, it was on a Marah board which is now down. --Mike
  4. I stopped reading this magazine when Klosterman left and even then it was getting pretty awful. Have I missed anything recently? --Mike
  5. This is a nice theory, but I really doubt any of the references were more than coincidental, just like the dude that came up with how A Ghost is Born can sync up with Passion of The Christ. Funny, the song Tears in Heaven, itself, always kept me from enjoying it, though the story behind it is devastatingly sad, even if it did inspire one of the craziest Anton Newcombe quotes of all time: "people always talk about Eric Clapton. What did he ever do besides throw his baby off a fuckin' ledge and write a song about it?" --Mike
  6. Reason Number 347 why love this album E's "one, nah I am not going to count sorry" intro to the gorgeous "All The Beautiful Things." E Live on Morning Becomes Eclectic --Mike
  7. Sources: Favre Given Deadline By Coach. I'm not sure why I still care about this story or why Brad Childress thinks he has any sort of upper hand here. Really Brad? Favre could decide the day before the season opener he wants to come back, and the Vikings will take him. Though I know he's going up against the immortal duo of Sage Rosenfields, who almost single handedly blew a 17-point lead against the Colts last year, and Tavaris Jackson, who I can't watch without having painful Kordell Stewart flashbacks, is a 39-year-old Brett Favre really that much of an improvement? --Mike
  8. Any of the recordings marked SBD are going to be excellent quality. My favorites of the post-Bennett that Owl has are the 11/28/2001 Seattle, 5/26/2002 Amsterdam, 8/31/2002 Vancouver show, 10/29/2002 Nashville, 11/2/2002 Tampa and 9/4/2003 Eugene the 9/19 and 9/20 Chicago shows are essential as well. My favorite Nels and Pat era boot is probably 3/14/2005 in London. I don't have a lot of the SBS tour boots, but the any of the residency shows from February 2008 and the May 2008 St. Louis run webstreams are great. --Mike
  9. Say You Miss Me might be my favorite song on Being There, it's an excellent cut, it was a perfect set ender for the 9-20-2003 Aud show. --Mike
  10. I retired it and subsequently AGIB and SBS from consistent rotation after Jay's passing in favor of YHF and Summerteeth, I plan on listening to it again soon, but I am still not quite ready to listen to Bennett-less Wilco again. I have still spun Solitiare and Bull Black Nova consistently, and I listened to My Country Has Disappeared a few nights ago. Country is a song I really feel Bennett could have made soar, it's fine the way it is, but a Poor Places-esque piano part layered in would have been wonderful. All right I don't want to start bumming everyone out... to end on a pleasant note I st
  11. The website that shall not be named wasn't too kind to this one (or come to think of it any Eels album) in their review this morning, it's grown a lot on me, I wasn't too thrilled with about half of the album on first listen, but there are a ton of killer tracks. I love E's songwriting. --Mike
  12. There's a scene in the Wilcofilm (I Am Trying To Break Your Heart) bonus clips where Jay talks about hearing songs he played on at a Starbucks and trying to get free coffee because of it, they didn't go for it. --Mike
  13. For some reason I can't the "Published Wilco The Album Articles" thread to open up in Just a Fan, other than that everything looks fine. Thanks for all the work you put in, Solace . --Mike

    Wilco Vinyl

Woah, this Unlikely Japan song looks intriguing, possibly an AGIB outtake if it's from 2003. I hope Leroy's on it. --Mike
  15. Wilcoarchive guru Owl got his hands on an advanced copy of pitchfork's review, read all about it here: Breaking: Pitchfork to Give Wilco’s New Album a 5.8 --Mike
  16. Wow, I have been driving past that for the last year and never made that connection. I'll have to check it out when I get back to St. Paul. The Electric Fetus has pretty much everything you'd want in a record store, and if you're into bookstores at all, Magers and Quinn in Uptown Minneapolis is amazing. --Mike
  17. I just watched the DVD Project Volume of bonus clips from the website, and really enjoyed seeing some of the happier times of Jay working with the group during YHF. There's a great scene of Bennett hamming it up for the camera at his keyboard station: "notice I'm playing both the black keys and the white keys at the same time, a lot of guys just play either the blacks or the whites, I'm one of the first to switch it up." --Mike
  18. Yeah, I have been having the same problem on my mac laptop. Though since about five this evening, everything has been running clean. --Mike.

    Loose Fur

I'd love to see another Loose Fur album, but I think Jim is living in Japan now and I'm sure how much of a pressing concern the project is for the three of them. Hopefully someone will ask Jeff about Loose Fur in the thousands of WTA articles we'll be seeing in the next few months, so we can get something a little more concrete. --Mike
  20. Yeah, I've worked on and off in the sports department of the Charleston, WV newspaper for the last couple of years, which has kind lowered my tolerance for sloppy internet publication writing (writing an endless barrage of run-on sentences on message boards, however, is still totally fine). I just figured out what Red Album he was talking about. When I hear Red Album I think of the Beatles 1962-1966 double greatest hit set from the seventies, not Weezer. --Mike
  21. Animal Collective is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. I can see why it's a problem, but I do enjoy a good bootleg video now and then. --Mike
  22. When I started my original reply the last thing you posted was about the parodies, so unfortunately because it takes me a long time to write a long post, I don't always go back and look the new stuff that gets added to a thread before I post. In the interest of clarity what exactly is your point? --Mike
  23. Yeah, I really hope this doesn't become a trend. I'd love for them to be a little more lax on the video-taping as well, more DVD Project volumes certainly aren't a bad thing in my opinion. --Mike
