  1. some parents would like the choice as to what their young children are exposed to, when they're exposed to it, and under what circumstances. in Dallas, Texas, it is not legal to be naked in public in the context in which Badu was naked in public. she removed the choice of those children's parents in that situation. but she transcends man's laws because she is special. she lives on the artistic short bus and communicates telepathically with children. so in the end it's all okay.
  2. you're seriously telling me that none of the latin americans in your vast, umm, "commodities" empire market ethanol at an outrageously inflated mark-up? why don't you drop the smug attitude and get honest with the board?
  3. your avatar just caught my attention for over 30 seconds.
  4. Just because somebody has added ethanol to your gasoline does not make it economically viable as an alternative fuel.

    Ouch!

I completely identify with the cartoon. I love Wilco, but there are a lot of douchebags who also love Wilco. Walking into a Portlandia-style coffee house with Wilco on the speakers would probably make me cringe. I choose to just be grateful for the music. In life one encounters people who like the same thing one likes but who are objectionable on other grounds. I try to work on abiding and accepting others who may be personally objectionable to me or who may use various means and privileges to sabotage and neuter the free exchange of ideas.
  6. do you just mean the giant shitpiles of money we've wasted paying for ethanol, which will never, ever be a viable resource, or did you mean agriculture on a broader scale?
  7. we had been coasting along just fine without these problems before the advent of rap music.
  8. Ms. Badu, responding to a question about the children who were nearby when she was stripping in public for her 2010 video: http://www.dallasnews.com/entertainment/music/headlines/20100329-Badu-speaks-out-about-Window-7172.ece
  9. oh, I see what you did there.
  10. well, he's certainly a better writer and speller than Badu
  11. I did not suggest that government jobs should be cut. I stated that my opinion is that it's not the government's job to go out and start hiring people whenever the private sector is not.
  12. My opinion is "no, not one bit."
  13. I can't help it if you're not an Ed Burns fan. Smarten up.
  14. Have you tried not listening to it seriously?
  15. I have always seen this tune as Jeff's nod to carnal and lascivious artists like Nine Inch Nails. It is downright lurid in some its shocking sexual imagery. Since this is a family board I'll try and keep my commentary sanitary, but some parts of the song defy discretion. She's a jar With a heavy lid we start with an endowed female A sleepy kisser on sedatives A pretty war With feelings hid with turbulent, sado-masochistic behavioral tendencies and repressed emotions She begs me not to miss her who engages in role-playing with servile overtones, (This repeats the stoic theme
  16. I took this part to mean that the speaker's father did not earn enough income.
  17. is she from one of the islands?
  18. Jeff has mentioned before that this was an homage to Mel Tillis
  19. such a bad attitude. this would be fantastic on Less Than You Think or Reservations.
