There used to be one on Washtenaw in Ypsi near the Whirly Ball. I don't think either of those places are there anymore so I am dating myself. I seem to remember burgers were $0.25 at Hot N Now or something obscene like that. Back in the old days. Like in 1994 or something.

I will never forget Hot 'N Now from my college days. Say what you will about the taste of the food, but there was certainly truth in advertising. It was hot. And it was now.

Saban says 'Bama loss a 'catastrophic event' / Associated Press Posted: 12 hours ago Alabama's latest loss has coach Nick Saban searching for ways to motivate his team. Citing the 9-11 terrorist attacks and Pearl Harbor, Saban said Monday his team must rebound like America did from a "catastrophic event." In this case, that would be an embarrassing 21-14 loss Saturday to Louisiana-Monroe. "Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event," Saban said during the opening remarks of his weekly news conference. "It may be 9-11, which sort of changed the spirit of Amer

All these years later and it just occurred to me that Live DVD is an oxymoron. Carry on.

Would anyone be willing to do a B&P for a U of M grad residing in NY??

Hey- thats really cool. We may have passed each other in the halls at Funkadelic. And I know the Red Lion well. Don't know Slane but I am always walking down MacDougal so I must have passed it a million times. I will definitely swing by one of these days. The next few weeks are probably a bit crazy with the holidays, but sounds like a great gig you've got going. Will certainly stop by and say hi. And now that I have hijacked my own thread, I am probably going to give the Boss RC-2 loop pedal a shot. See how it works out. Me and my drummer have been *trying* to play You Are My Face an

Man, I feel like I just got punched in the gut. That would be so sweet to have.
-
Ok - thanks for the ideas everyone. Hey - Mr. Acres (Mart?), I'd love to check out one of your shows. Where do you play? My buddy and I usually practice at Funkadelic Studios on 26th/6th. It would be cool to see how you guys pull it off... And Atticus, let me know if you ever end up in NYC. We aren't terrific, and while I am certainly no great guitar god, we more than make up for it with laughs and passion. And it helps that the songs we play are great...

Yeah, BEAT tOSU? Oh crap. Does the t stand for the? Ugh. sorry. Head currently being stuck in sand. Crap.

Tsk, tsk. A mistake/typo that an OSU grad would make. GO BLUE!

So, I am in a band, if you could call it that with a buddy of mine. He is a drummer and I am a guitarist, if you could call it that. For a variety of reasons mostly related to the fact that none of our friends play instruments, we are stuck with just the two of us. Without a second guitar or bass player, I find that the sound we get (while often full) is sometimes empty. We are probably too ambitious with our song choices, but even when we try to cover bands like White Stripes or Black Keys, I find that the whole "one guitar, one drummer" is more of a theory with these bands than a realit

from today's pitchfork (here) Band of Horses took a bit of flak a couple months back-- on the interwebs, anyway-- for licensing a song to Wal-Mart (and another to Ford) for a net-based ad campaign. "My personal stance," Band-leader Ben Bridwell wrote in response to the haters, "is that once that music is recorded and released to the world then I don't really care where it goes." But despite this apparent nonchalance, Bridwell has drawn a line. Speaking to Fargo, North Dakota publication The Forum this week (linked via Brooklyn Vegan), Bridwell confirmed that while it could have taken quite

The power of Maybe I'm Amazed will always overcome the power of that Christmas song. Always. It's like good vs evil.
-
Maybe I'm a man. Maybe I'm a lonely man in the middle of something that he doesn't really understand. (an effort to get that christmas song out of your heads)
-
Hey! I said that!
-
You might be able to convince me that McCartney wrote the best song of all time and the worst song of all time. I mean, that's saying something right there. Yesterday and that Christmas Song.

Cool thanks. Was the show acoustic? Electric? Combo? How did they handle requests? People shouted them from the crowd or they had a line set up with a mic? (that was how they did it when I saw them do it a couple of months ago but it was a much smaller venue than the place they are playing in Brooklyn tonight).

As a general matter, I have a feeling that most people would feel the reverse is true. I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now. I certainly laugh when I think of myself at 20.

Miracle Drug by AC Newman. Clocks in at 2:19. Perfect power pop song.

I agree with you, but I am doubtful the voters will get past a conviction.
-
And aren't we already in here? Do we really need to be in somewhere else?
-
Couldn't disagree more. How many HOF voters on the fence swing to "no" if Bonds is convicted here? He at least had a shot when there was still a shadow of a doubt. People could say that he was innocent until proven otherwise.

Paragraph 9 on page 3 has the government alleging that they've got positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids.
