I think it honors wilco. Ignoring for a moment whether this is a glitch with the source, nothing on the album is there because wilco was lazy or missed something. If Jeff intended for it to be there, and it's there, it's not "stupid crap" it's part of the art. Which means it's not nitpicking, it's offering an opinion about the art. what's in the water these days? edit: SirS, I think we need some time apart.

I hear you, buddy. Lou, I think it is a bad thing. The video has nothing to do with Stockholm Syndrome. And we aren't having a conversation about it. People are saying that the video is offensive. You want to say that the metaphor is stupid or predictable or poorly executed, fine. Let's have a conversation about how cliche'd and stupid it is. Maybe it's bad art like TheMaker says and I have crappy taste. Or we can agree to disagree. But reducing the video to a lament of offensive domestic abuse is just mind-blowing to me and is arguably, offensive. I don't care if you are male

Tune one step down!!! That's why it wasn't working!!! ARGH!!!!! thanks chisoxjtrain

I don't think there's a best example on here. I think what's great about the album is that each song, on its own, can be held up as an example of Wilco (The Sound). Also, I see lots of people connecting BBN to Spiders. I see it, but BBN hits me the way At Least That's What You Said hits me (the freak out part). Not Spiders. There's no logic to it. This is just my gut talking.

I thought it was a cool, cartoonish, over-the-top metaphor. That opinion was independent of the music underneath it. I would bet that Dylan hasn't seen it. I agree it has nothing to do with the song. I thought the video was just independently cool. It's really just that simple. I wasn't judging it as a "music video." Maybe we should all just agree to move on? I am fine with that.

I love pop music. And there are certainly poppy moments on here. But this is not a pop album. This is a Wilco album. There ain't no other box for it.

Mike - you've mentioned this a few times. I certainly hear what you are talking about (I think), but "influenced"? Seems to me that there are some similarities in guitar tones, but not really much else. And those similarities feel more like coincidence than anything(or just different musicians independently thinking a certain sound/tone/pedal is cool). Maybe I am splitting hairs, but being influenced by something makes me picture the guys listening to Full Moon Fever in the loft and saying "yeah this is great, let's do this on our next album." And I just can't imagine that happened. Als

The only random capitalization that I saw in this thread was as a direct response to the criticism that the video glorified domestic abuse of women. Which is preposterous. IT IS PREPOSTEROUS.

Paste magazine is a for-profit endeavor. A "campaign" by artists to "save" a magazine that operates as essentially free advertising for them seems a bit much. They even have a "Donate Now" button. Wow. I'll donate my cash to charity and spend my money on magazines with something interesting to say.

Because I am not embarrassed by liking something that others dont. It's ok. The birds will still be singing tomorrow. Are you embarrassed for me? eta: Also, I am not sure what was so loud and proud about it. It's not like anyone is running through the streets yelling that this deserves an oscar.

3-2 you guys lose

Not standing up for herself? The guy gets stabbed and smacked upside the head with a frying pan and run over by a car!! This isn't exactly a helpless woman getting battered and staying with her abuser. She wins the fight, too. Maybe I am crazy.

I think it's: The summer sweet dreaming April blush

Yeah, it sounds to me like something that shouldn't be there. I assumed it was just a product of the rip itself.

The point is that we beat the shit out of the ones we love best. Those violence scenes are ridiculously over the top for a reason. It isn't condoning domestic violence. It's making a point by metaphor. I thought it was great too. I'm with SirS.

Sorry, I missed your question. That was odd timing. Yes, it's coming out on vinyl. And you can pre-order it now. There's a couple of threads discussing it.
-
I don't think that's the point of the video.
-
I am very excited to hear this on vinyl on a proper stereo. When the bass and drums kick in on One Wing? Oh man.
-
I thought it was "an arrow with arms open wide" which I assumed was a tip of the cap to attacking with love. But "aural" makes more sense.

Amen, bud. Me too. Eff em.

Haha yeah, I noticed that. Man, all my friends are going to tease me ruthlessly for this.

The tab above matches the final version.
