This is excellent news. My world is a much better place with some Califone in it.
-
thanks for the heads up on this ^^^^. NP: American Central Dust (Son volt).

I like this. I don't love it, but I suppose that I may with more listens. I have a feeling that this one will take some time to open up. Like a good wine. 3.7 from pitchfork is just silly. I dig the groove on Down to the Wire.

ouch. Listening now for the first time...

I am listening now, Lynch. Hang in there. Vibes.

Has there ever been a better (more biting?) parody of Dylan? great tune.

July 6 - Anniversary of some Quarry Men gig
MattZ replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Someone Else's Song
amen, SirS. -
Well, in my defense, that's not really a ranking of versions. It is more of an acknowledgment of one version that is simply head and shoulders above all others. A statement of fact, if you will. But your point is taken. And dismissed. No ranking of Wilco albums from me, buddy.
-
holy hell, this looks great. (too bad i don't actually like any of these guys -- maybe I will after this movie)
-
Sorry to disappoint everyone, but I will not be ranking the Wilco albums.

Mike Powell is a dick. I am just glad I didn't have to read a review that spent half the time talking about Uncle Tupelo's ashes, and the other half not taking a position. That was my only point.
-
No, you are right. I wasn't clear. My post was really more of an indictment of how lame most reviews are that I read. The drug references, the rehab, the attacks for being a father, etc. in this particular review were all frustrating and lame. But I liked that the guy took a real stand even if I disagree with it.
-
I'd rather read that review by Mike Powell than the average review that (1) falls over itself to mention the ashes of Uncle Tupelo and Jay Farrar, (2) inevitably gives the album 3.5 or 4 stars out of 5 to avoid taking any sort of real stance on the album, and (3) reads as if it were drafted to protect the author 5 yrs down the road just in case time treats the album well (or poorly). In other words, Powell's critique was amusing and entertaining. I don't care what he says mostly because I don't care what he thinks. At least it was different.

if the folks on VC can't figure this out, the song does not exist.

Obama to hand control of markets to Federal Reserve
MattZ replied to futureage1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
No, buddy. You are the one not good with math. YOU are the one that said that NONE of the money would be returned. Seems to me that 100 billion is more than none. I never said that ALL of it was returned. You are priceless. -
Ok, when SirS puts it like that, I confess, it makes for interesting conversation.
-
I don't think it makes for interesting conversation.
-
Oh man this thread is priceless.
-
Haha, me too cryptique. I got the same very odd email today. Apparently, my item shipped 4 days ago.

futureage1 also insisted that our largest banks would never pay back the TARP money. Just saying. -
Ten bucks says I get the LP tomorrow. EDIT: I see that Jules was thinking what I was thinking.
-
Oh weird. Did they always say they would be shipping it ON release date? If they did, I am an idiot for ordering from them. And if they said that they would be shipping it ON release date, and you knew this, then calling the day before to ask if it had shipped is silly. I can see why they'd be annoyed. Sorry Clint09. I am in this boat with you, but I calls em as I sees em.
-
This information would have been helpful when I was deciding between the Kung Fu pre-order and the Nonesuch pre-order. Dang nabbitt.
-
I got the 7" (which sounds killer, btw), but still no sign of W(TA) and no email confirming shipping. Oh well. I will keep my fingers crossed that it comes tomorrow, but it isn't looking good. I wonder if I can buy the LP at my local store, and then return the one I get in the mail from nonesuch? I'd just give the extra one away but I dont know too many folks with record players these days. I know that "release date" has been watered down by the leak (no pun intended), but I will be pretty bummed if I can't run home after work to listen to the vinyl tomorrow. The older I get, the fewer
