  1. It alters their mind which allows them to focus better than other players which allows them to hit balls harder.
  2. Haha, this is the only decent pic I got the whole night.
  3. also, its funny to me how many closet economists I have as friends and acquiantances. Everyone who took econ 101 in college knows the way out. Even if they can't spell CDO.
  4. No one knows anything, and anyone who pretends that they have the answers is deluding themselves, but they ain't deluding me. In a global economy? With an unprecedented slowdown? Slogans like deficits are good or deficits are bad do not apply anymore. You can make a car in Detroit and it affects rice prices in China ferchrissakes.
  5. Have you really convinced yourself that you understand the bigger picture better than everyone else?
  6. Sorry twobobs. I thought this was obvious and you were just picking a fight about the Zeke thing. My mistake. As for D'Antoni's style, the Knicks gave up 144 points last night to an 18-win team. So us NYers aren't very happy with this "style" today. Give it until tomorrow and we'll love it, probably.
  7. You crack me up, man. EDIT: I don't even disagree with you about D'Antoni, but I dont see what this has to do with Zeke (your intial point).
  8. Ok, but what does complaining about D'Antoni have to do with Zeke? Not trying to put words in Bjorn's mouth, but maybe he thinks that D'Antoni isn't a good coach? I think that is possible regardless of what he thinks of Zeke. And I dont see why D'Antoni should get a free pass because he's better than Zeke.
  9. No Knick fan said anything about Zeke. You did.
  10. Exactly. It is very interesting. You do like Desire and I can see where you are coming from, too. I didnt mean to state my opinion as an absolute, just to respond to someone else wondering if they are the only person that didn't like Desire. I love Dylan to pieces, but I just never could get into Desire. I was born in 1975, so it is very possible that I can't relate to the time/place aspects of that album, and that if I could, I might feel differently.
  11. I dont like Desire. Never have. Dont like the female vocals or the strings. I never listen to it.

    Wilco Vinyl

I dont remember the specifics, but I think it was just independent confirmation that AM, BT and Summerteeth were being reissued on vinyl. I dont remember if there was a date, or if the Mermaid Ave albums were also being reissued.
  13. Not even sure why I'd throw my hat in the ring on this, but here's what I think: 1. Spitballs, corked bats, amphetamines and steroids are all forms of cheating. 2. There are degrees of cheating. 3. The cutoff, for me, is cheating within the chalklines and cheating behind closed doors off the field. Is there any reason for me to draw a line there? I suppose not. But I do. And that line is what it's all about for me.
  14. Me. Bobbob likes arguing with me even when I am not involved in the thread.
  15. I wish I had been alive and heard Ballad of a Thin Man when it came out. I figure it was kind of like hearing Straight Outta Compton for the first time when it came out.
  16. Haha cool. I am happy just thinking about it, too. Go get yourself a guitar! I swear, I wanted to tell him to just take five minutes and change the dang string on that J-45, but I figured that I was the only one who cared. Also, one other story, while I am on it. When he played New Madrid, and he got to the "they all come from New York City" part, I silently pumped two celebratory fists above my head in the back row, and I think he saw me and smiled for a split second. Just sort of a cool silent/unspoken moment. I have heard that song IN new york city, but its always better when I l
  17. do any of the guitar geeks remember what Jeff said about tuning his guitar down so that the strings are loose and sound like "rubber bands"? I dont remember how far down he said he tuned. Did he say that he tuned down one full step? And then I guess he capos at 2? Or did he say he tunes down a full octave? That can't be, can it?? I guess we will get the audio soon enough. Speaking of which, for the guitar geeks, three stories: 1. he had his signature kick-ass j-45 with him, and 3 songs in, broke the high E string while tuning. He had 3-4 other guitars there, so the j-45 was retired
  18. Don't let anyone say it's wrong.
  19. Haha, awesome. Thanks Elizabeth. I brought my camera and didn't end up with one freaking picture. Kicking myself. Was great to see yours. The lyrics were pretty intense if I remember right. I dont remember any of the specifics, but it was a song about love and longing and searching (or something like that). Seemed more direct in an SBS-type way (as opposed to IATTBYH). I know I am not giving you much here. It was pretty overwhelming and I was stunned by the chords and changes. Really a beautiful song. One other story about this song that I should have mentioned above. When
  20. I dont know the specifics of the leak all that well. What I do know is that the Bonds testimony before a grand jury is supposed to be sacrosanct. No matter how the ARod leak happened, while it's possible that it leaked inappropriately and/or illegally, the confidentiality of the information was not sacrosanct. In other words, if the government wanted, they could go in and get that info. No player should have ever felt comfortable that MLB "promised" to keep it confidential. This info was always at risk of disclosure whether this particular disclosure was legal or not. Not sure if I am ma
  21. Leaking grand jury testimony is very different. That is illegal. In my mind Bonds really did get railroaded. If he was relying on the confidentiality of grand jury testimony, that is reasonable (IMO). Any player who relied on the "confidentiality" of an agreement between MLB and the Union was an idiot.
  22. As for the confidentiality issue, ARod can probably sue the league if he wants, but enough with the sports commentators talking about the 4th Amendment. For chrissakes, the "confidential" steroid testing was an agreement between MLB and the player's union. The 4th amendment is not implicated in the SLIGHTEST by this issue. The government is not subject to an agreement of confidentiality between MLB and the Union. The government can do whatever the heck they want on this count. And frankly, that may be why the league kept the records.
  23. For the record, I am not saying one way or the other whether I care about steroids or not. Or whether it tarnishes Bonds or Arod. Just that I don't believe a word out of ARod's mouth. And he gets no points from me for "admitting" what he did only after he was caught red-handed.
  24. Bobbob - testing always lags designer drugs. If these guys were dumb enough to get busted when they knew there would be random anonymous testing, they'd be dumb enough to use HGH or any other PED that cant be caught. Now, there's no evidence one way or the other, and the guy is innocent until proven guilty, but I saw that 60 Minutes episode and he lied to the camera then. If I dont believe him now, he has himself to blame. And you want to tell me that you believe that the "pressure" of Texas did this? But the pressure of Yankees fans and a Boston rivalry were no big deal? Fine, but I wo
