Jeez, I'm in midtown and I can hear all the sirens. Crazy stuff. Kudos to the first responders -- as always. Always f*cking there when we need them.

Nothing except a triple, that is!!

I agree. And Lammy, I was kidding about the 9 player thing. Well, not kidding, but just being mischievous. It's all good with me.

Triples are much more exciting than Home Runs. Also, let me be the wiseass NL fan who reminds everyone who likes the AL of the first rule in the rulebook: Rule 1.01: Baseball is a game between two teams of nine players each, under direction of a manager... The AL violates the very first rule in the book. As such, I don't watch it.

Obviously, with the caveat of IMO... The most exciting event in baseball (and I've seen my share of baseball) is the moment after the ball leaves the bat of Jose Reyes for the gap. The entire stadium inhales deeply (you can hear it), Reyes makes the turn at first, and everyone waits for the play (if there even is one) at 3rd base. Then everyone exhales and goes crazy. Nothing beats a jose reyes triple at a packed Shea. It is (was) awesome.

No, man. I'm with you. Maybe I am reading into it too, but I have seen Jay before. The guy never looks happy to be there. But he won't even look up in this video.

Haha, nah. Not worse. But saying it's not as bad as I remember it, isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. There are some really nice moments on here... But on the whole, I think it's a dud. The songs and hooks are there. I dont know if they production is too slick, or if there's just too much Cardinals on here, but it just doesn't work for me.

Cardinology isn't as bad as I remember it.

I agree. I appreciate Ryan's posts and his honesty (I think) because I am willing to cut the guy some slack. I do think he is being genuine, and I don't think these are self-indulgent, spotlight-seeking efforts. Or, let me put it this way. If they are, they seem to stem from very genuine issues that he is struggling with. I don't know the guy, but I take him at his word. I only hope that he figures this stuff out. Seems like the guy just needs a big bear hug from an old friend sometimes.

Happy birthday!! Thanks again for all your great contributions to the Tabs section of vc. I have wasted many hours having loads of fun playing your tabs.

I have felt bad for those guys for a long time. Even when they were in the band with him. I also feel badly for Ryan. He brings so much of this on himself, though. Ugh.

I'd also suggest that DPs alone aren't a fair judge of much as a stat because, like wins and RBIs (the bane of the Bill James crowd), they are dependent on what other players on your team have done. And because DPs (depending on the speed of the hitter) are often hard hit ground balls that give the fielders the time to turn two. There's little difference in reality (other than luck perhaps) between a hard hit ball just out of the reach of the SS and a hard hit ball hit directly at a SS resulting in a DP. Well, other than one results in a hit (ie, good) and one results in a DP (ie, bad x2).

Come on, twobobs. Spare us your self-congratulation. I will respond to it. Belle was busted for corking his bat, was rumored to have corked his bat for much of his career, and there are many whispers about his use of steroids. I am not taking a position on Belle or whether corked bats improve stats. What I am telling you is that there is a widespread belief in baseball that Belle actively cheated and his (very impressive) stats were the result of that cheating throughout his career. I'd say that's one way he is different than Rice. (And, I am not looking to get into an argument about
