I thought the exact same thing. Was I the only one who thought the O O O O O was a reference to our president to be?

What the best seats you had for a concert?
MattZ replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Jeff Tweedy, two seats behind the couch. 4/5/08. -
I had the same reaction -- I thought it was cool and then I admitted to myself that if I didn't like Ryan Adams, that I'd probably hate it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I cant think of any other band getting back together to make an album that would generate the same kind of buzz. Of course, there's no way the album could live up to the hype. I guess Phish fans are excited for a new album? But I think the buzz for NMH would much more pronounced. This may be evidence of little other than that bands just don't break up anymore and so there's no one that "gets back together" either.

Predictions for the first song? I remember wasting a lot of time when the post hiatus shows were announced on this issue. No one picked Piper. And when they played Piper, everyone realized it was the perfect way to come back. That sloooowwwww build to euphoria!! Just an(other) example of why they were so great.

I thought that post was directed at PFork, not you, but maybe I am wrong. Anyway, I do think it's lame for a reviewer to project an artist's personal drama onto the art. We talk a lot around here about separating the art from the artist, and the record/art should be able to stand on its own without someone who has probably never met the artist coming up with conspiracy theories about why he can't connect with the music. It may be because you just don't like the music -- not because Adams was dating Winona Ryder. That all being said, Ryan brings a lot of this on himself. EDIT: and li

I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty of changing your post.

I realize that I live in an alterna-universe where everyone knows NMH, but if they DID decide to get back together to make an album, I can't think of a situation where there'd be a more highly anticipated release. The only thing I can think of is if John and George were still alive. And I realize that the "Beatles getting back together" is hyperbole, but still, what else would generate that kind of anticipation? Have I just not had enough coffee this morning?

Awesome, thanks so much for posting. I would love to pair up Wayne Coyne's mega guitar from that other thread with Ryan's mega amp from the Letterman show.

I think if you keep this up you may actually win this argument.

be sure to post the tracklist. I had so much fun making mine. I started with Mellow Mood by Bob Marley (I'll play your favorite sonnnnnng, darling!!) and went into Strawberry Fields Forever (we got married at Strawberry Fields in central park). How's that for a 1-2 punch. I think people at the wedding were like, yep, this is a MattZ dj'd wedding. I still pull it out and listen to it every once in awhile. It transports me back to the day like nothing else can. More than 5 yrs later. NP: Cardinology

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Long live mono.

the fun has started -- you are a bad man, El F.

I'm totally digging how he rhymes 'faces' with 'faces'

Sweet!

God help me if they mess with those mono mixes.

To get back to our earlier discussion -- if you lost a lot in the market over the last month or two, you did NOT want to be on the sidelines today. Waiting for the rally often means missing the rally. Up 10% today. (Who knows if it's not just down 9% again tomorrow, but still...)

can you photoshop Obama's face onto the body? Oh man, that'd be awesome.

My interpretation: Looking back on a long-lost love. And confusing the nostalgia for love.

I think Clinton was a good president.
