  1. Everything else looked pretty good to me.
  2. Got it. Frankly, I'm often too lazy to tab out every little note, even though there might be little variations one can do on a given chord. Anyway, looks like you have a nice transcription of Ashes I'd suggest the following change though: G Bm Em Em#7 A/C# = chords on the "all my lies..." section. I usually play them as arpreggios using the barre chord shapes for the G and Bm ---3-----------2---------0---------0--------0- -----3-----------3---------0---------0------2- -------4-----------4---------0---------0----2- --5----------4---------2---------1----------2-- --------------------
  3. Cool - I checked it out - looks real fancy But does that man you can't just write out chord names - every single thing has to be in tab format?
  4. I admit I dont know a thing about Powertab - what's the story with it?
  5. Well on my VHS tape of the low-definition TV all I could see was a white strat I didn't even see the wear. Still, is there any reason it wouldn't be a cheaper strat just beat to hell?
  6. Does it even require soldering? Switching the speakers if often really easy.
  7. So how does the rest of the riff go? edit: never mind - played it last night and you guys are right. It's the very first chord. I edited my first post to reflect it.
  8. Have you ever tried removing the clipping diodes? Give a bit of overall volume boost, and lets you raise the gain without getting significant pedal clipping. Perfect for hitting an amp which is already cooking. (Not good for bedroom level OD into a clean amp though) Sorry to hijack
  9. Thanks - I'll try that out.
  10. That's what I was refering to. The word on the street is that you will be soon... Just like Bob to steal my idea
  11. Or a production MIM strat Seriously though, any reason to think it's rare/vintage, besides Tweedy's well known GAS?
  12. Cool thanks - my guess is that these will have workable piano sounds, I'm more concerned about the organs...
  13. http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data...C30_6TB-01.html Looks like a cool amp - you'd probably have to pay pretty close attention to maintenence issues though. I've heard that the very first run of the Custom Classic line had some reliability issues, but that seems to have been solved now. Overdrive - Crowther Hotcake. Google Hotcake and AC30...
  14. In this part, I play the D as the "D riff". The G's and A's I play as power chord/blues shuffle thing: ----G---------A- e---------------- b---------------- g---------------- d--5-5-5-- 7-7-7 a--5-7-5---7-9-7 d--5-5-5---7-7-7 The Em is just a power chord at the second fret e-- b--- g--- d-2- a-2- d-2- Basically everything is played as a power chord on the bottom 3 strings (the major chords have a blues shuffle, the minor chords do not) with the execption of the D chord, which is played as the "D riff" durng the verses. Are you guys learning this in class?
  15. Hmm, I always thought it was a darker blue. Maye it was weirdness caused by stage lighting.
  16. note: this is approximately what Tweedy plays and uses drop D tuning. Most chords are played as power chords or blues shuffles on the bottom 3 strings. For example, during the "we can make it better" bit I play the D and G like this: ----D---------G- e---------------- b---------------- g---------------- d-0-0-0-----5-5-5 a-0-2-0-----5-7-5 d-0-0-0-----5-5-5 Is That The Thanks I Get D riff: (barre across the 7th fret, I dont usually play the B string) e-------------------- b--7------7--7-7-7- g--7------7--7-7-7- d--7------7--9-7-9- a--7h9---7--7-7-7- d--0------0--------- [D] Is that
  17. Now I know why you know so much about keyboards, Mikal Jorgenson (PS - did you make that avatar yourself? That's pretty good)
  18. I thought he used custom made hollowbodies form Languadoc?
  19. BTW, why is Trey playing a LP Gold Top w/ P90s?
  20. Nicely done One thing you can do (and I have no idea if Tweedy did this at U Chicago) is this: D ____________________________________Em_______________G) spinning out webs of deductions and melodies, on a private beach in michigan Where the Em is played as 2-2-2-0-0-0 and the G is 5-5-5-0-0-x.... just slide up the shape from the 2nd to the 5th fret The last verse is played just like the first instrumental break (the "rock and roll" break on the album version.)
  21. No, it's her money, not mine. I think we're going to try out some Pivias and see whether they fit the bill (pop/rock - Wilco and more). I'm hoping she'll hold out for the Nord, but we'll see
  22. Thanks guys. It's not actually for me, it's for my GF who probably isn't as much as a gear slut as me. I'd find a way to get the Electro, but even used I haven't seen them cheaper than $1200.
