Little late now, but the Gazebo stage was free. Good times were had by all. Though I didn't get an autograph - what's up with that?
-
I'm not sure one can accurately make that kind of statement without knowing how hard the tubes are being pushed and how hot they are biased. An AC30 played a stage volume 5-10 hours a week will require new tubes well before 2 years. edit: that said, asusming most of aburhabi's playing is at home you're probably right. I'm just being nitpicky - sorry.

For those of you who were there - did Jeff play guitar on Impossible Germany? The two electrics I hear sound like Nels (duh) and Pat. Is that right?

That should be pinned.

There's a FLAC posted on another thread...

http://www.gumbopages.com/music/wilco/song...ng.sometime.txt This is a really good site for Wilo and Tupelo tabs, though a few need tweaking.

I've never found a tab that seemed 100% correct. It's been a long time since I've attempted this song, but I found liked simply using the chord positions and adding hammer ons/pull offs - that got me close enough for rock and roll, and worked much better for solo playing than playing single note lines without chords behind them.

Is there a noticeable sound difference? Does the price of the A100 include a Leslie cabinet? I might be able to afford $200 at some point, $2K not so much for a long time. PS- I miss Jay Bennet

And what the hell does any band need 10 B3s for? I wonder if the numbers were slightly exaggerated.

Honestly, just because the guy doenst want a 5 watt amp doesnt make him an asshole. Maybe he's in a band with a loud drummer - 5 watts ain't gonna cut it. Besides, the "dumb" kids all want 100W Mashall solid state stacks. A 10-15 watt tube combo is a pretty wise purchasing decision at any age IMO.

Actually tube screamer definitely color your sound as they boost the upper mids (which is a good thing for leads IMO) I have a Vox Valvetone, which is bascially a tube screamer, and I though it sounded brilliant a bedroom volumes.

Most people dont like delays, tremolo, and modulation (chorus, flanger, phaser, etc) before overdrive/distortion. If you're getting your overdrive/distortion from the amp, it's often a good idea to put those types of pedals in an effects loop to place them after the preamp (unless of course your ears tell you differently). EQ pedals are usually used in the loop as well. Like Bolivar said, some pedals ar less noisy in the loop as well, though this varies a lot. My setup usually goes guitar -> OD pedal or several -> delay -> amp set dirty, so I have OD/distortion both before and after

He didn't say it was solely for practice...

Most guitatists prefer tube amps, though some jazz guys and some metal guys prefer solid state. In my experience, the super-simple answer is that a tube amp's overdrive sounds better a you turn it up, where as a solid state amp starts to sound ragged and nasty. The jazz guys dont generally overdrive their amps, and some metal guys prefer that harsher sound... There's more technical stuff here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tube_sound

between what?

Maybe it was because he was sucking face with his music-loving peer that he needs the tape to remember to songs...

Coulter only lacks some of the qualities that made Hitler bad, mainly the homocidal anti-Semitism. She still is a fucking disgrace to liberals and conservatives alike. Although you'd think that ingnorant, hate-filled invective posing as political commentary (that both she and Hitler have spewed) would be marginalized by decent society, somehow she's embraced by a good portion of Americans who presumably think of themselves as good people. The mind boggles.

I think you need to change your sig. I recommend a line from Merle Haggard's "I'm Going To Break Every Heart I Can", or perhaps if that's too soon, Ben Folds' "Song For The Dumped"
