I didn't see anyone take interest in this, but nonetheless I'll note that The Baseball Project is playing Letterman on Friday night. Could be really good or really bad.

That's the one. He signed in a blue Sharpie across his chin. Few moments in my life match the joy I felt when I got those self-addressed, stamped envelopes back in the mail.

Did any of you mail cards to players to be signed? Most veterans wouldn't mess with it, so the trick was finding young players with potential. My best autograph score through this method was Gary Sheffield on his 89 Topps rookie, wearing a Brewers uni and braces.

I don't think so.

When I was a kid, I suspected my local card shop was opening the Topps wax packs, taking out the good cards, replacing them with commons and resealing. I haven't collected cards in a long time, but I hope they are making them tamper-proof now.

I cry more to sentimental sports movies than I do over real life issues. Rudy, The Rookie and Field of Dreams get me every time. I second the scene where the old-timers recall Doc Graham's generosity.

My experience was that I had to leave the headliners early to make the late shows. But since I don't care much about the headliners this year, that wouldn't be an issue.

agreed ... The National's downtown show last year was one of the best I've seen ... Andrew Bird and several Wilco members were in the crowd.

I think it's a big letdown. Only a few people I'm dying to see. I think I'll take a chance that they might tour through Oklahoma or Dallas on their way to/from Austin and I'll avoid the sweatfest this year.

thanks for weighing in on MLB.tv now my concern is that since i would be using it primarily at work, i'd use too much bandwith and get in trouble. admittedly, i don't know much about it ... maybe it wouldn't be a big deal at all

At least TBS isn't waiting until two months into the season to start broadcasting games, like Fox used to do on Saturdays.

Dang. I was hoping sooner. I should have done more research. Right now he's only eligible at 3B on Yahoo. They'll add OF eligibility after so many games (15 or 20, I think), which will give me more flexibility in my lineup.

Is Mark Prior going to do anything this year? I took a flyer on him in the last round of my draft.

Ours are turned to news, both local and CNN. I can get it turned if there's a big game on, but no sound. I really need to go back to working days. Back to the subject at hand ... Dice-K didn't look too great this morning, at least from what I saw. Was it just nerves since he was pitching in Japan?
