last night I stood at the Metra station for about 20 minutes waiting for Graham to pick me up. I decided to stand as still as possible to see how much snow would collect on me in that time - I have to say, I got pretty covered. It was coming down pretty fast! I love a bright sunny day after a snow - it reflects the light so nicely and makes my living room so bright! That said, without cloud cover it is going to be hellishly cold tonight.....like zero or something. Stay warm Kevin!

I finally finished an afghan I have been working on for months - for a cousin. It is made from really soft and fuzzy wool and alpaca.....soft soft soft!

Discuss: "We're the 49ers" is a better song than "Super Bowl Shuffle"

the Dolphins won the super bowl - the year I was born.....so it wasn't THAT long ago -
I have taken a number of classes at the OTS and love that place. There was a nice show about it on WBEZ this evening.....here is a link to it, though I don't see an option to stream it. Maybe it will be available online within a few days? http://www.chicagopublicradio.org/Program_...x?episode=16116

I think I am the only person who doesn't like the Godfather movies.

it kept raining and warmed up here.....so now it's just wet and all the snow is gone.....which is a nice change from the ice rink roads and sidewalks we had last night.
-
we had snow - now it's sleeting/freezing/raining and is gross and dangerous outside - and not very pretty.

I loved the Kite Runner....if you haven't, you should read his newer one A Thousand Splendid Suns

Thanks for the recommendations guys!! Now I have a few more things to add to my wishlist!! I have decided to go with....... I am almost finished with The Magician's Nephew - though had started it awhile back. I know I can't get through them all in a short period of time. But, they are so quick and fun that I hope to plow through 2 or 3.

I know this isn't a movie really - but it may be one of my favoriteist things in the whole world http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4md5tp08Ylk when I was younger I would get so baked and watch this movie - this scene would crack me up so badly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDVoWCZa8hM

that's funny- a couple minutes ago, after Graham read my post he said, "did you ever read Peace Like a River?" I started it earlier in the year, but never finished it.....I do remember liking what I had read so far.

A Prayer for Owen Meany is one of my all time favorites. I also LOVED The World According to Garp - I have had trouble getting into other Irving novels though.

I need some book help.....I don't really read a lot of fiction, but at the end of the semester I would like to indulge in just one delicious, enjoyable read before I spend the bulk of my Christmas break studying. I am looking for something like Secret Life of Bees, Water For Elephants.....nothing too heavy, but I also don't want silly fluff...... I am especially looking at Christy, Laura, Maudie and Brianne for help...... On my shelf, I have The Time Traveler's Wife and The Glass Castle - both of which I know have gotten good reviews. Maybe one of those? Something else?

I only know of the Epworth House in STL

hey maybe that British schoolteacher is just spreading imperialist oppression and Western cultural hegemony.

Have you ever thought that religious scriptures could actually be written metaphorically and as parables open to interpretation? Ya know, we do have the capacity for complex thought.
