  1. Oh yeah, and my member name is leaning a little harder towards Williams, than Lynch. But have your pick: hard luck country traveler, or metamorphisizing, noir, porno industry, guy on the phone is also looking at you and not talking yet you hear him talking to you on his phone what he lends you to....... you see where this goes. Take your pick.
  2. I've seen a little more than half of his work for the big screen. The enjoyment of Lynch for me has always hinged on considering that he might be 'fucking with you'. That sometimes he's not being pretentious, he's being absurdist. Laughing behind the curtain so to speak. I've never been able to enjoy anything of his nearly as much as Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart, but I found Mulholland Drive to be worth watching more than once. Inland Empire didn't really work out for me at all. He kind of tests how far you're willing to go.
  3. God, I hope not. That's about as Andrew Dice Clay as I can get. Sometimes someone just needs to say the most wrong thing available.

Yes but, Abbey Road was written and recorded after the main sessions of Let It Be. And it's better. And my pocket protector could beat up your lunchbox.
  5. Anyone else give a little cheer last night when O referred to gays and lesbians as "our brothers and sisters"?

You are forgetting a little ditty they called Abbey Road.
  7. And..... forgive me if anyone has already spotted the symetry on this, but look at the two parties. Obama is accused of being unexperienced, he gets a seasoned bulldog of a VP. McCain is counted off as another disconnected rich white male and he finds a VP that would be the first female VP in office if elected.
  8. Nice. You're right. That was my mistake. I can celibrate the major steps in this country that took place in the 20th century, as should you and anyone else. Race is always a tight rope walk, for starter's it is 19th century biology, it doesn't actually work as an accurate way of grouping people. To fragment that even further, it is an operating concept that effects the way people see each other, whether it is real or not. I am always on guard; I've seen in liberal circles how everyone can be so enlightened on the issue, they convince themselves the world is. Unfortunately untrue.
  9. Fair enough. But no one counted your vote. They love when young thinkers like you don't vote. It makes it easy to maintain the status quo.
  10. After 'last guy' wet the bed on the whole 'disaster' issue. I think the republican party doesn't wan't to be seen partying while Louisiana gets hit again.
  11. I already tried. Sorry. But really, you live in a Democracy pull your hand out of your pants, stop preaching about your racial paradise and do something. Anyone who thinks racism is a thing of the past is probably white. I happily celebrate obvious improvements in this country, right along side you. But to run around telling everyone racism is dead is irresponsible and absurd. To follow that up with a push for not voting makes me think you are icing over this political thread with some sugar-free vanilla. It's like someone coming to a football thread to tell everyone not to play. Voti

I don't know the guys, so I can't say. But, I wanna step out on a limb and say the souls and egos of Wilco's current members seem to be sitting just fine.

Oh, so you heard the rumor on the working title: Intestinal Frequencies?
  16. I'll go with that. Maybe wouldn't fly under an academic classification of "literature", but in the broad since of well written English letters, sure. I even agree with your hierarchy only I might swap SBS and ST.

I would also add that an Evil Urges-like disappointment from wilco would be devastating. I don't expect as much.
  19. A lot of these strike me as great lyrics more than anything. They should be put to music.
  20. Hey, way to be brave. There is definitely some dramatic language, and effective images in both of those poems. You stick to the ballad meter and format very firm. Makes me wonder how much Dickinson you've been reading. On a casual glance, I am curious about the absence of punctuation. The missing periods and commas made me sing song through your ballad meter so fast that I had to go back to get the substance of what you're doing. In "Looking Back They Made You" you interrupt the ballad format on stanza 3, 6 and 8. On 3 you added extra lines and I think it works fine, on 6 it is just ho

Summerteeth is the vision of Jay Bennett dominating. YHF is what happens when he was forced to compromise control. I would say that much of what we regard as the wilco aesthetic from the past three records, from the ensemble playing, to the avant flourishes, to the distinctive production style is a break from that Summerteeth approach. When I heard Bennett's solo record this became increasingly clear. I would say O'Rourke's stamp on the band has been just as, if not more significant since he came into the picture. (thank god)
