I know we all know this, but I just need to say it: The reason Washington and Jefferson are not "next" is because they helped create the U.S.A. It's a different thing to take down statues of Confederate generals because they were fighting against the United States. They were fighting against the country we live in. We all know that's not the same thing, right? I mean even if the president doesn't- we do, right? We're gonna make it through this, right? See also "slippery slope fallacy".

"Your skin so thin your heart has escaped." I can think of no better indictment of Trump's character.

"All lives, all lives you say? I can see you are afraid. Your skin, so thin your heart has escaped. All lives, all lives you say. You were born at the end of a noose. What was up came down with the blues. But you don't know how to sing anything anyway. So all lives, all lives you say. My, my, My mind is gone. It's too hard for me to know when I'm wrong. This is the last dying gasp of a deadly lung turning blue on a lawn in the sun." Someone tell me if I misheard something. I think I know who this song is directed at!

"Annnnnd Smashmouth," "Yeah?" "Fuck off." -
Good stuff?

The Mooch quotes just underlined how dysfunctional the white house is as a team. Shitty management and the staff keeps canabalizing itself. I am continually surprised by how little criticism there is from people who actually support Trump's agenda. He's blowing it for them. All to my chagrin.

Yeah McConnell is an unreedemable piece of garbage, fortunately like Trump he's delightfully shitty at accomplishing his horrid goals.

If I interpret this correctly as an incredibly dry way to remind me that Hitler thought he was doing what's best, my hat's off to you for subtlety and wit.

^ I hear all of that, but (oh shit is this the part where I experimenting with defending McCain) but how do you square that with him voting down the senate bill? What he did was call for a bipartisan dialog and a more traditional legislative process. His vote to begin their chaotic procedure in spite of calling it unlikely to succeed could be interpreted as mere politics in the more negative sense of the word. It could all be show, but I still prefer his show to many of his ilk.

I agree with this completely. I think most of the respect I have (which motivated me to share) is coming from him being earnest. I think he really believes his agenda will help the citizens of our country. He's wrong, but at least he believes. Unlike a certain NY real estate mogul turned reality TV star turned leader of the free world.

There's no predicting where the circus will land this time around: something severe like the legislation they've already drafted, failure to pass anything as the Senate has failed twice, or some watered-down semi-partisan thing that merely screws over 5 million people instead of 25. My vote is for failure, unless somehow they just decide to talk to Democrats about how to bring down costs for states whose markets have been less kind- fix it instead of repeal it. Oh look at me dreaming.

I'm pretty sure it's my wife's favorite "Wilco album", so I guess there's a lid for every pot.

Good point. If Hillary would have engaged another couple percent of eligible voters who just sat out she would have won. This may be reductionist but the next Dem candidate has great odds because they're A. Not a Clinton and B. Probably coming up against an attempted Trump reelection. On a whole other note: I was deeply saddened to hear of McCain's brain tumor today. While I have often disagreed with him, I have still found him to be a genuine, earnest and respectable civil servant. It puts everything in context to me when I consider how absurd it was for me to consider him the worst imagi

I was surprised to hear snippets of electric guitar in there. I was also surprised to see this was recorded a year and a half ago. As always I can't help but wonder what he/they've been cooking up in that loft recently.

Well it appears the senate health bill is dead and we didn't even need McCain to have a life threatening emergency.

I'd say this (plus or minus bong) is the only way I know to listen to something which is even better than driving around with it. Unfortunately this doesn't really work with my wife. The very idea brings me back to my bachelor days.

New England friends, tell me about the Berkshires

Ha, no we aren't hitting up NH this go round. I was referring to a wilderness area in SW Mass. I basically looked up where people go for hikes around there and those were two recommended areas which contained waterfalls. The deal is we're going from Hartford to Lake Placid and hitting MA en route. -
My family is headed to up state NY by way of Hartford, CT so we're breaking up the drive for sightseeing, hikes, BnBs etc. We're looking to spend a day and a night in western Mass and I figured some folks on here know what's up. I'm curious about N. Adams as well as Mt Washington areas. Any recommendations?

Wait, how does this connect with Wilco?

That might be the most glowing review yet. The one thing that is consistent in all of these reviews is that "Dawned On Me" and "Hummingbird" aren't complimented by the treatment as much as the others. I wonder if those who've gotten some time with the record agree. As a side note Prefix should edit better, but so should a lot of online publications.

Oof the Senate's bill is just as rotten as the House's. I wonder if they can cram this crap through.

You shouldn't feel guilty. These are not new songs. This is the tunesmith version of a remix record.

I'm buying it on vinyl for one purpose. My baby daughter, my wife and I hang out in our living room where the turntable is. This has lead me to flesh out the Jackson Brown, Paul Simon, Kris Kristofferson side of my collection. This record will sit nicely in that realm of sonically gentle and lyrically rich. I suppose some would say that's dad rock. This dad is in!
