  1. Those encores are pure rock blocks. And Company In My Back! Jealous.
  2. Yeah again, limited legal knowledge, but it seems it doesn't drastically change the story in either direction.
  3. You can read Comey's opening statement online. My legal knowledge is slim but it looks like it isn't much we didn't already know, which is enough to enhance suspicion without being totally damning.
  4. Sooooo... Jeff Sessions offered to resign. Can you imagine more of a shit show? I mean other than U.S. embassies having to tweet condolences to a nation mourning a tragedy while our President throws shade.
  5. Agreed on all fronts, just add The Long and Winding Road and you have the short list of Fab Four songs I dislike.
  6. I think we all agree on the vocals. I think Lennon hit a ragged R&B performance there that's similar to what Paul spent a million takes trying to conjure in 'Oh Darling' (an effort which was pretty fruitful).
  7. Biggest surprises I'm loving: Rockies and Brewers. WTF: Mets and Royals
  8. ^ I remember the remaster they did just ten or so years ago being great. At some point they're just cashing in again.
  9. That's really cool. My music major dorkness scoffed when he opened by saying how Paul also subdivided a measure by taking Little Richards 8 piano hits in a measure and changing it into 4 hits in a measure. And I went, "Oh you mean he played quarter notes on the beat?"
  10. I love how shitty the organ solo is on that song. It makes me laugh out loud. There's something thrilling about hearing a "Beatles fail", like "They were mere mortals, and therefore fallible?"
  11. ^ I loved reading this thank you. I agree on so many of your points here. As for the earlier years, as a young punk I used to foolishly write off everything pre-Revolver as enjoyable but mediocre standard faire (we all start out a bit ignorant). I slowly moved the boundaries of "great period" Beatles, first rediscovering Rubber Soul as genius. Now I'm starting to think while mostly light hearted, Help is both a transitional album and the peak of their straight rock and roll days. Even the silly "Act Naturally" is a pure blast of fun Ringo camp. Great record and I assume has much tighter
  12. Okay, I've been meaning to lay all this out somewhere to look at it, and it's a rainy day so I'll put this here: As a Beatles fan at birth I've overthought just about everything in their career. No issue has sustained my fascination more than the real/mythologized partnership/competition between Lennon and McCartney as songwriters. For my understanding as of Rubber Soul they were pretty much coming up with their own tunes, and offering each other some feedback, or the occasional middle 8. By Pepper (with the obvious exception of 'A Day in the Life') they were penning their own tunes alone,
  13. I got psyched about this until I saw the tracklist. It's basically an old favorites rerecorded solo deal. I'll probably check it out, but maybe not the lost gem I'd imagined.
  14. Right, like the Russians don't know how to read/watch U.S. news. "Trump says he never revealed it was Israeli intelligence in a revealing interview where he reveals his intelligence sources"
  15. So Trump's arms deal seems like a potential PR bonus for Trump, but it's interesting how little attention is paid to the crimes of the Saudis, especially by islamophobes.
  16. Is he the "senior official close to Trump" the NY Times mentioned? That would make perfect sense seeing as he's met with the Russians multiple times. This is not a new question, but I think we're all going to keep asking it as there hasn't been a satisfying answer: When did the party of Reagan become cool with Ruskis?
  17. All of this seems plausible to me with the exception of Pence 2020. He would need to exceed all of our expectations (dems, repubs and independents) for that to happen. I think we'll be ripe for a Dem president in 2020 unless some brilliant GOP congressperson is teeing up some bi-partisan legislation and leading the charge against Trump's sins.
  18. Is this the first piece of an obstruction of justice case?
  19. Friction Foxhole Marquee Moon Venus Guiding Light
  20. The tweeted threat of having a tape of Comey is too much. It's like he's re-reading the Nixon history and trying to duplicate it.
  21. I dig the Hyphenated Man record a lot too.
  22. All the analysis I've read describes Trump's firing of Comey to be a grave misstep for advancing his overt and covert agendas. I may be in an echobox though.
  23. I wonder what legal channels are available to keep the investigation on track. It would be awesome if Comey just published everything damning he had on his way out the door.
