  1. I will say the back half drags a bit. Steal the Crumbs is okay, but Farrar wrote at least a half dozen similar slow folky ballads which are better. High Water is similar, but more boring. The pedal steel playing on it is nice though. I think the other tracks are pretty great though. Good tunes from both songwriters.
  2. Totally. Although, I'm not sure he placed the diversion far enough away. It's still part of the Russian narrative.
  3. We found out my 6 month old daughter is in the 13th and 33rd percentile for height and weight respectively, yet the 99th for head size. I'm wondering if my wife will mind if I start calling her "Heed!".
  4. "Obama wiretapped me!". Curiouser and curiouser.
  5. ^ No knock on cyclists, I kind of am one. I just find mixed bag, corporate swag events are weird. I like to just go see a band or two at a theatre when it's their night. This might make me a persnickety fussbudget.
  6. Right? How many Russian ties are going to come up before we hit critical mass?
  7. You used to be able to hate him with a brief glance at his words. Now we might have to think for half a minute why what he's saying is stupid/dangerous/evil. More of a GWB situation.
  8. It's a bicycle related fest which is questionable, but yeah that's a good couple bands. Not much of a Deathcab fan though I know that puts me in the minority.
  9. Oh yeah, so there's 6 out of 12 they seldom play. Maybe they do Nope a little more. But I suppose in a packed setlist the ones they do live are bigger crowd pleasers. I'd love to see them do Just Say Goodbye though, that one gets me.
  10. I thought that too, but I think they've only played Common Sense and Just Say Goodbye in front of people once or twice. Quarters is also not in the rotation, so I guess some of these songs just aren't part of their regular repertoire (that took several tries to spell).
  11. I just pulled out the liner notes for Heartbreaker. Somehow I never knew that Pat Sansone played on that record.... crazy.
  12. I wonder what legal grounds there are for some official consequence to unconstitutional actions by a president.
  13. Funny, I just read a ranking of his albums on a music site (consequence of sound maybe? ) that put 29 as his worst. Shows what I know.
  14. I read a rumor that they benched Kelly Anne Conway. My wife and I were talking last night about how while the Trump agenda was no less odious this week (environmental issues, trans rights, cutting funding for public broadcasting) his PR is actually less of a shit show. In reality this is worse because it allows the country to be calmer while he ruins it.
  15. Yeah, I clearly am mixing the work from that year up, but I know I've heard and enjoyed all of it more than some more recent efforts. I actually enjoyed 1989, though.
  16. Oh yeah, wasn't that the year he put out one million albums?
  17. That's the one with Strawberry Wine right? I always kind of dug when he'd get warbly, especially after he sounded like a perfect dreamboat on Love is Hell singing Oasis.
  18. That's right, because it took Nixon some time to build up to this level of pandemonium. At this rate Trump's Watergate is due for sometime in April.
  19. Note, the Trump team's messaging has been 1) Flynn resigned- Spicer, Conway 2) Flynn was fired by Trump because of eroded trust- Conway 3) Trump thinks Flynn is a really good guy- Trump Meanwhile we know that at least Flynn, and probably Trump and Flynn kept Pence in the dark about a very serious issue. This team does not work. Like, if you actually wanted them to do all of this heinous shit they're promising to do you should be rally angry that they suck at working together.
  20. You definitely have pulled up some Brasilero stuff that I never heard of. My friends tipped me to Os Mutantes, Ze, Veloso, Costa, and Gilberto Gil. Which seemed like an entire universe, but then it's crazy to see how much more has come out of that amazing country. It kind of reminds me of Nigeria. You find out about Fela and then it happens that there are a dozen other major artists.
  21. Radical. I love how much of a Tropicalia expert you are. It seems like one can go really deep. I've mostly stuck to the stuff from that revolution period. I did get way into this contemporary Brazilian band Los Hermanos. Don't let the Spanish name fool you, it's all Portuguese. Ventura and 4 are a pretty seamless blend of indie rock and samba.
  22. Same here. His episodes with semi obscure comics are sometimes boring but even those I don't skip because some have been captivating. I love seeing who's on for the week on Monday morning. It's often a nice little surprise. I was pumped to see Ryan Adams. I'm about half way through and it's a really good conversation. I had no idea Ryan was so into skating.
  23. Right? I'm a little too busy to cite my sources properly but I can clearly recall a story last year about increased risk from flights being stacked closer together to both max pilot time, and passengers per day. If you ever wondered why some crap happens to over half the flights you book these days (delays, lost baggage, missed connections, cancelations), it's because of how tight they're running everything to stay profitable and keep airfare low. I can't imagine rolling back regulations is going to help either staff or passengers. It'll probably help CEOs and stock holders though.
  24. He learned from the best. Soon he'll start tweeting and ending a critical tweet with "Sad."
