  1. I thought of a better one oof wilco to nirvana Wilco - produced by jim o'rouke. jim orouke was in sonic youth. sonic youth opened for nirvana. I think it is possible to relate everything!
  2. the early stuff and the later stuff are like two different bands. The early stuff is the best little rock and roll combo. It was a late fifties teens wetdream of a band. They played catchy, fun pop tunes and had killer harmonies, booked gigs for 25 minutes and could be off in 18. It was a cool time, with great energy. The late stuff is artistic genius. They played the most original, thought provoking, mind opening music known to man.
  3. Did you put the logo on yourself? I am building a maple cap 69 strat replica, and I have two of the repro decal's. Any tips?
  4. It looks like this might be the best hope to get a sky blue sky wilco concert in Florida!
  5. I thought x degrees of separation was when you connected two vastly different bands by common links. For instance wilco to nirvana. Tweedy was in Uncle Tupelo, who had a record produced by Peter Buck, who was in a band with Michael Stipe, who is friends with Courtney Love who was married to Cobain. Those are a blast, we should have a contest.
  6. http://www.grabow.biz/Contemporary/Wilco.htm We should pool our resources and have a viachicago party. should we get a band or dj?
  7. I have a feeling im going to get bashed, but this looked kinda cool maybe. "Please read the letter" was an excellent song on walking into clarksdale, and the snippet of it sounded good.
  8. So, I am visiting my parents, and my mom is watching "Cold Case" on CBS in my parents room. They have played a bunch of Nirvana songs during the prorgram. I heard "Something in the Way" and "Come as You Are" and it seems like they played one earlier too. Alot of bands on tv dont bother me, and I like the VW Wilco commercials, but somehow it seems that using Nirvana songs on a cheesy cop drama seems very wrong. Especially since the songwriter can't say yes or no. I think sometimes great music and film can build each other. For instance, the led zeppelin tunes in alomst famous. But when
  9. so do they actually make it stronger?
  10. Thanks alot man, 74 shows are really rare! I dont have any, and I have like 200 Neil Boots
  11. It works on any amp, I have gotten some awesome tones with my martin, the m1-a and my narrow panel tweed deluxe actually! The thing I like about it is that it is simple, and good. It isnt perfect by any means, but perfection in acoustic guitar amplification is very intrusive to the guitar and expensive. The m1-a is affordable, requires no mods to the instrument, and always sounds good. If you have a nice amp designed for acoustic guitars and a pre-amp, it obviously sounds better, but no matter what happens, you will have a useable sound that sounds like an acoustic guitar, and not a tin
  12. I think you can still buy AGIB In the online store at wilco's site, not sure though. "Out of print" just means they aren't printing more of them. What we are refering to is when they are "Out of print", and you can't get them in stores anymore. I dont want to pay 60-120 for am, or 200 for summerteeth. It would be best if they reprinted them and they were 20-30ish. A DVD is LOOOOOOONG Overdue. I wish they wouldve done one when they had all of the cool artwork in the background. that was awesome, she should join wilco. It was like the acid screens at the fillmore east! Sarchi, I
  13. The M1-A is better because you dont need a preamp, but you can use one if you have it. I plug direct into the PA, and I bought it because I like Tweedy's acoustic sound on all the bootlegs I have. That is a great representation of what those things sound like.
  14. Actually, the biz is the best it's been since the early 90's. They also just recently (July) rereleased all of the out of print ryan adams records, and they did 1000 copies of each. It is really on the upswing, and the market is growing. I think in the next ten to 20 years or so, it will be all digital downloads and vinyl, no more cds.
  15. There is a big enough market, even if they did 1000 each of AM, Summerteeth, KT and, Mermaid Avenue 2, they would sell out really fast. While on the subject, I wish they re-release all of the uncle tupelo records. One day!!
  16. I have an LR Baggs M1-Active that I am very happy with. I have an HD-28, and didnt really want to permanantly modify it, so I just slip it in the soundhole when I need it with the cable going out from the soundhole and it works great. It is a relatively cheap pickup, and it sounds really good without any fuss. I usually cut a little treble and bass at the P.A., and that is about it. I dont like most pickups because it takes so much work to EQ them right, and then 90% of them sound like crap still. You have expensive acoustic guitars that sound exactly the same as cheap ones because the
  17. Too bad they havent played in florida since march of 06, It is a bit rough on a college student budget to drive to atlanta from tampa.

  21. ive been playing guitar since I was 8 (i'm 21 now), and have been in many bands through the years. I've played with people better than me, mostly when I was younger, and that has been huge for my growth. I was also in a blues band for a year with some guys in their 50's and 60's, and that has helped me out alot due to their extensive live music experience. My favorite band so far has been my high school band. I moved to Florida when I was a junior in HS, and I asked every person I met "Who is the best drummer/bass player that you know?" I ended up with the drummer and bass player of the ban

  25. ORDINARY PEOPLE TO RADIO NY Times, September 7, 2007 NY Times has learned that "Ordinary People" from Chrome Dreams II will be sent to radio on Monday September 10. This 18 minute plus track most likely will be initially heard on radio web sites. We think the most adventurous stations will play it on the air a few times. The length of this track makes it hard to program into today's limited radio playlists. It is rumoured that I-Tunes may initially offer the extended track as part of a Chrome Dreams II album pre-order. Consumers pre-ordering Chrome Dreams II would get the 18 minute plus
