I have some great sounding thin records, but that is hard to explain on a sticker on the cover. 180 gram records do feel higher in quality because they are thicker, and some people say they warp less. Records were closer to 180g earlier, and during the oil embargo in the 70s got substantially thinner. records from the late 70s and 80s are super thin, and if you have mostly 50s and 60s vinyl, it would be better to set your turntable up for the thicker ones, and therefore 180g records would sound better than thin ones. I would say the main way is I get basically hit over the head with an idea at a completely random time, and then the song usually follows quickly thereafter. Sonic shoulder, that isnt the way length works on a record. Length is a function of the loudness of a record and the amount of bass. The usual quoted optimum length is 18 minutes per side, and when you get above that, the record has to get quieter. It becomes noticeable around 22 minutes, and nosedives after 25. I've only found a handful of albums that were missing a track. Like 3 or 4 out of the few hundred I have searched for. I started buying vinyl in high school about 10 years ago, and basically missed the whole digital thing. Ive never downloaded or used a streaming service. I signed up for spotify, and it has been really cool to use at work. I have been searching for things people have told me I would like, but I never forked out to try on vinyl. So far Dinosaur Jr's Bug has shot to the top of my to buy list, followed by the raconteurs records, some sonic youth and a few other things.

has anyone compared the original sundazed pressing of YHF to the new RTI pressing? I am wondering if there are any differences. The sundazed one is awesome, but RTI always presses great records. When the tour began it wasnt even out that he was going to have a new record, and I didnt see an official announcement that said that was what was happening. My tickets from clearwater have "Neil Young: Solo Acoustic" on them. It was not solo acoustic! I think the real answer is because he can. I think the idea is to get real fans in the seats. If they were $40 tickets, everyone that heard heart of gold one time would be interested in going, and he would have to play an arena, which is what happened with Greendale. Then when Neil pulls a neil and doesnt play his greatest hits, but instead does a theatre production with crazy horse about the media and the current state of things, or in the case of le noise, a bunch of slightly weird new tunes played on solo electric guitar, he doesnt have to listen to those people booing. I have a feeling they will put both 1 and 2 out in a boxset sometime. Or at least reissue 1 and issue 2 within the next few years. I wonder do they know that they are selling for $80-$100 used. Obviously, there is enough demand to sell some more if they pressed them up, and then they would get to make some money off of it

heating causes humidity issues with acoustic guitars, and guitars in general are affected. Changes in humidity almost always change setups on guitars, and guitars stay in tune better in reasonably cold temps.

I live in tampa and used to complain alot about them not coming to florida, but they will make it once an album tour support, so roughly at least once every year or two they will play either tampa, orlando, jacksonville, etc. I would love to see them more, but they havent skipped me entirely yet, so I can take that. I have been able to see them for everything from AGIB on. They played in clearwater last year, and it was a really great show, hope to see them sooner rather than later

My turntable setup is way better than my CD setup, so buying cds is basically a waste of money in my case. I was glad to have the chance to pay anything to get a great live album, from one of my favorite bands on vinyl. I listen to it all the time. The box set is extremely nice, much nicer than the My Morning Jacket box, and the vinyl is high quality, flat, and with no surface noise.

I was also at the tampa show. I have a class on thursday nights (that attendance counts in ). The business building is on the other side of the parking lot to the sundome, so the plan was the wife was going to park in the sun dome parking lot, I would drop off my computer in the car, and we would go in to the show. For the Song Remains the Same film, there were large sections of video missing/ not captured during the shows, so the band filled the holes with different scenarios with each band member, and the manager. Some people find them ridiculous, others (myself included) think it is really awesome to watch wizard-jimmy climb a mountain while crazy violin bow guitar solo noise is going down.
