There are plenty of older rockers that don't live off of royalties/megafame that simply choose not to write/perform any more, though. I think it's a little unfair to call folks out resting on their laurels in old(-er) age simply because they're rockers. Most people like to kick back/retirement-mode when they hit above mid-life, regardless of profession....

He basically started off 2010 the way he did 2009: two months of horrible hitting. He was able to turn it around for the better part of last season after those two months. He very well could go back to prolonged slumping and I'd welcome seeing the DH spot go to a better bat at that point.

I agree. Milton Bradley? Andruw Jones? A lot of this ties into contract obligations though, no? I guess the manager/GM point of view is the more uses you can get out of the player the better.

And that OPS would be higher if pitchers were hitting in lieu of the DH? Most DH spots aren't filled by one player. It varies from game to game. These players play in the field some days and sit some days, too. I guess I don't understand when you say that teams don't value/take advantage of the DH just because the OPS numbers are lower than some would expect. How would they be better off taking advantage of their DH spot?

I hear you and certainly understand the other side of the coin. I'm not necessarily a big proponent of it but I do understand why it was implemented and I think the NL was even the first league to push for it/test it out.

That the pitcher, in general, sucks at hitting? To my knowledge, this is the original concept behind the DH rule. They aren't everyday players and can't really be expected to hit like an everyday player. There are pros and cons to the DH rule. I don't think it makes NL ball any better (to watch a pitcher try and bunt?) or harder to manage. There's still bunting in the AL, you just don't always know when it's coming... I understand the concept/history/"integrity" of having the same 9 players batting but the DH came into play because people got sick of watching pitchers trying to hit. I enjoy

JK is really a lot more than a Jerry clone. He's got his own style and has been allowed to (and felt more comfortable in his own shoes through this) to do his own thing. He struggled last fall when he came in to the band, imo, because he likely was trying to fill those shoes too closely. He really is an excellent guitarist and does his own thing. I was heavily impressed with the shows last spring. Even shit like Truckin was all-out and with a new vibe. Enjoy the music.

Flipping around the tv last night late night I ran across some show that dedicated itself to his relationship with his chimp. Although it looked really fascinating, I opted for "QVC Casket Discounts Featuring Larry King."

I definitely agree with London Calling, and as much as I enjoy Exile, it has 4-5 tunes on it I generally skip. It's been said before but I'll chime in again, it may have worked better as a long single Lp rather than a double Lp by jettisoning a fw tunes. I'll add Appetite for Destruction, too. Yeah, it's a band that gets panned a lot, but it really is a fantastic album for a Rock band. I never considered them "Metal," per se. It's an album I can listen to all the way through and appreciate all of.

This is true. He really dropped off (velocity, which was consistently hitting 100 mph, and location) after the 3rd inning. Lackey, on the other hand, improved markedly after the 4th inning.

Anybody else catch the BOS/COL game last night? What an exciting game, regardless that BOS lost. Watching Jimenez pitch this season has been a treat and his first 3 innings were flawless. The Sox were the first team to get to him this year and he was chased early from the game (to a standing ovation, nonetheless). The game had all sorts of twists and turns with that rat-bastard Giambi hitting a 2-run walk-off homer off of Papelbon, who got taken deep moments earlier to have the game tied up.
