  1. Charlie Watts (Stones) is highly underrated as a drummer. His fills are flawless and subdued yet resonate perfectly for the moment in the tune. Stephen Perkins (Jane's) is an incredible drummer. There's something about have drums being the focal point (Banyan) that works well there.
  2. Aaron Burr offed Alexander Hamilton in Jersey! Though even his handlers took him to NY to die. I think NJ, in general, gets a bad rap. It's an easy target. However, shows like Jersey Shore and Real NJ Wives ot whatever it is don't help the image of NJ. Parts of NJ do stink. Driving that stretch through the Meadowlands smells like marshy factory. I'd assume most folks not from NJ get the same impression as it's the main thoroughfare to get through the state....
  3. This is from the dvd but I think it's a great cover of the LZ tune that showcases how well these guys can actually play/sing. Always loved this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54uG7VoLvWQ
  4. I like that encore (Heavy Things-> First Tube) and the Tube/First Tube opener/closer. Said it before but I don't get the non-love for First Tube some folks have. Amazing tune imo. Glad you had a fun night dkyrus. Saw pics and it looks like a wonderful venue.
  5. Pedro to come back in second half again?: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5292668
  6. That game last night was over half-way through the first quarter. Celtics looked like they'd just woken from a really long nap. Here's to the power of being the underdog in game 7....
  7. 8. I was at the Hartford show and was well aware of the St. Stephen played at MSG a few nights earlier. The entire place was on edge (imo) with anticipation out of Space. Those first notes of Stephen still send shivers down my spine. The place absolutely lit up. Still my favorite of the three they broke out.
  9. Glen Davis, Nate Robinson, Tony Allen....all stepped up. Rasheed, too.
  10. I was at this show, as well. That was a pre-drums Throwin' Stones, too! They've since torn the NH coliseum down. That outdoor elevator always creeped me out, as well as the round ramp to get to the parking garage....
  11. Strasburg looking pretty damn sharp in his debut: 14 k, no walks, with heat, movement, location.
  12. I know! I'm convinced you have stocks in McDonald's, you queso/nacho/tortilla soup-fearing lunatic.
  13. Plus, Qdoba has nachos. Chipoltle doesn't.
  14. The wisdom of John Wooden: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5249709
  15. I'm with you on this^. I haven't been to a Rockies Opener for 4 years due to not allowing myself to be strong-armed into buying a ticket to the next-day's game, as well. I used to love going to Opening Day, too.
  16. I held a shitty, tiny recorder in my hand above my head for that^ show. Recording came out.....shitty!
  17. Can't be overturned. Wow. Just a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible call.
  18. Ditto, dmada with the sentiments about JGB shows, the Bushnell, the Jerry (and John) acoustic shows (I think the only true solo show was that Capital theatre early and late shows on 4-10-82). Garcia was supposedly pretty damn intimidated up there all alone.... Some folks would argue that prime/peak years for JGB shows were 80-83.....
  19. Get a room, you two. And if there's any floor space, preferably under the sink, I'll join you.
  20. Starting catching JGB in 82 (first one was New Haven w/Bobby & Midnites opening and playing on encores). Kreutzman was the JGB drummer then, as he did a quick stint in that role around that time. I used to really enjoy the crowds at the smaller clubs/theatres as they (crowd) were generally older and mellower. he always seemed to draw the biker crowd a bunch back then, too.
