  1. No one's supposed to wear white (socks) after Labor Day, anyway. So it works out.
  2. I'll go on record as saying I think the Sox can go all the way this year. They've got plenty going in their favor.
  3. Ditto on all counts. Unless I finish my current "pleasure" read within the next week....
  4. Sorry, PT. Just bored. I'm not into the band. I'm sure you'll get a bite, though.
  5. And of course, taken from the fall '81 acoustic shows from radio City/Warfield. It's always been a winner of a disc/dvd.
  6. Listened to some Robert Earl Keen on the way to work today. A greatest hits type thing.I've always liked "Chorpus Christi."
  7. Must've been a game where Papelbon took over in the 8th.
  8. Are you kidding? The spaceship? I've never seen a bad show there (JGB/GD): sound/acoustics, vibe, cops, people, etc. were always cool.
  9. Wonder if the ban from Red Rocks will be lifted... That was an ugly scene.
  10. Wharf Rats of note not yet mentioned: Red Rocks 7-8-78 Nashville 4-22-78 MSG 9-22-93 w/ David Murray on sax.
  11. I don't get this. I've never felt that anything was being shoved down my throat. Or maybe I did and just stopped listening. It's that simple to me. I'm a simpleton, I guess. I get curious when people get offended by being "forced" to hear shit. No one's making anybody listen/read/watch. Isn't ignoring the shit you don't agree with more comfortable for your life (not you, personally, but people in general). An annoying person at a party spews shit and I go hang with someone different. That easy. I'm not so sure that a sweeping generalization as " organized religion" teaching hate works either
  12. I think Axl trumps that on "Don't You Cry."
  13. Grew up on and love Apostrophe but got more into the groove on Sheik Yebouti
  14. So yes, the NL is partially filling. I always enjoy a good race.
  15. That's crazy. Based on a true story, too!
  16. That's perfectly acceptable if you don't want your own kids to read/watch/do certain things, though. Quite another to try and prevent other kids/parents from making their own decisions. I know you weren't suggesting they were the same thing, just reflecting out loud on the conversation I had with a particular parent of a student.
  17. I've got kids in my class reading that. I remember reading it in fifth grade, too. It's a good kid's book, as are most of hers.
  18. This is great. I had a parent on Back to School Night this year try to sway me that our school library contains "witchcraft" literature with ritualistic killings, etc. (you know, Harry Potter, etc.). What a drag it must be to be her.
  19. I think some of you need to getb the 160 GB iPod.I've only filled up a little more than half of it and I'm still finding good shit to listen to that I forgot I had even put on it. I listened to that Built to Spill album in it's entirety (the one with "It's Just a Habit" on it) for the first time last week. It's been on the iPod for over a year.
  20. Rays have no one to throw out first pitch in first playoff game...? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8092303068.html
  21. But the BOS organization hasn't always been run as efficiently as it has been the last 5-6 years. BOS is a very well-run team (as Microsoft is a well-run company) who's success is, in large part, owed to the committment of ownership to give it's fans the best they can offer (much like Microsft does for it's company and customers). Ultimately, it's not the problem of the well-run company and/or it's customers if there are less well-run teams (homeless folks). Or something. eh.
