  1. Been down to the corner About once or twice I don't know but it's been nice I ain't got no money I can't buy a damn thing That I might like Let's go down to the dime store On some moonless night And look at the rain I got a shirt that cost a dollar twenty-five I know I'm the best dressed man alive I put it on and head down to the local dive To put the icing on extraordinary rides When I am done I leave em happy but insane For to look at the rain I'm a messed up torn down Worthless bad of trouble I take way too much And I get right in your hair I got a real sharp pin With which to burst you
  2. Liberty University. Kind of an ironic name for a college with a curfew, eh? (I went to Roanoke College down the road). Oh you'll make it back in time, or else....
  3. This is good for Wakefield as long as the umpire can remain consistent. I realize there's a different ump tonight behind home plate, but last night was pitiful. The strike zone was really all over the place. I was incredulous watching some of the same pitches/location going for strikes being called balls later (and vice versa). I'm not blaming the umpire for the loss, but there's legitimate complaint to be made for the way he called the game- from both teams.
  4. Perhaps. But too much wind and he'll have trouble keeping it in a strike zone, if it's moving ("dancing") the way it's supposed to. Walks=base runners=more stolen bases on him than usual (which is already a good amount). I have faith in the guy, but there are some extra factors that play into it when he, in particular, pitches.
  5. IIRC, that was '99, mostly, that they used him a bit for the closer. Wakefield had a decent year this year but the strike zone typically shrinks in the post-season. If it's too windy in CLE it probably won't be a good night, either.
  6. Wakefield always makes me nervous. He could get pounded or be fierce.
  7. If you have one, (pm me if you don't), the JT solo acoustic version would be a very nice touch.
  8. That's the perfect clip to accompany it, too. The "gave my love a chicken that had no bone" part cracks me up every time.
  9. You've got a curfew? Where do you go, Hollins?
  10. I gave my love a cherry That had no stone I gave my love a chicken That had no bone I told my love a story That had no end I gave my love a baby With no crying. How can there be a cherry That has no stone? And how can there be a chicken That has no bone? And how can there be a story That has no end? And how can there be a baby With no crying? A cherry when it's blooming It has no stone A chicken when in the shell It has no bone The story of how I love you It has no end A baby when it's sleeping It's not crying.
  11. Good list from A-man. Besides the Dire Straits tune, another obvious might be Lou Reed's "Romeo had Juliet" off of New York.
  12. This is kind of how I always took it. Dylan has grown some pretty shitty/weak beards.
  13. I've seen some stand-out Dead shows that might interest other 'heads, but no one else: Garcia and John Kahn acoustic, Garcia solo, "St. Stephen" Hartford '83, Warlocks '89 Hampton, etc. Sat in for Phil and Ryan Adams rehearsing for Fillmore and Red Rocks shows a few years ago, too. Lots of Phish shows in the pre-fame days of late 80s. For the mainstream: Johnny Cash at Telluride Bluegrass festival, 1998 maybe? Vassar Clements several times w/Stir fried Butthole Surfers in mid-late 80s somewhere in VA. Bad Brains in same era. Sonic Youth same era. Also opening for Neil Young. Bob Dyaln w
  14. It is hurricane season in Florida, after all.
  15. Pretty damn cold, too. The rain is supposed to taper off by tonight, but still.
  16. I tend to agree with this. I almost never go in early for the opening act. I want the good stuff from the get-go.
  17. The meltdown included Lester and Lopez, yes. Gagne continues to be put on the mound (who knows why?) but the Lester/Lopez bed-shitting isn't a thing Red Sox fans are accustomed to. It was a bad night for all three of those guys and hopefully the day off allows for some re-grouping. Wish the outcome was different, but I enjoyed the game regardless.
  18. An extra-innings game in a league championship is boring? It was long, yes. Good baseball to watch, though.
  19. For Wilco: Banyan (Nels would sit in), Todd Snider & The Nervous Wrecks, The Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show. For Tweedy: Todd Snider, Tony Furtado, Curt Kirkwood, That 1 Guy.
