I'll never be done with watching that freak Flatley-dance after clinching the ALCS. The look of determination, even during times of celebration, is both weird and amazing to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxvv6zTk5Js

Where to start with The Grateful Dead?

Check it out. I've always loved this tape. Now we have video. 'MSG '87 Good Lovin-> La Bamba->Good Lovin'" with el Capitan beltin' it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqVVe6lG0IE -
While we're at it, can we bury "nasty" and "filthy" to describe great pitching/pitches. It was cute for about 5 minutes two years ago. It's old now. Let the baby sleep.

I don't know what he's doing now but I do know he married Rebecca Lobo a few years ago.

That's a great deal.

Yeah, looks great. I entered a contest on a site to win this sucker. Petty's underrated in my opinion. The guy's got some great music.

Sorry to hear. Vibes out to you and your family.

I thought this was going to be a link to a "mash up." I don't know The Shins, but I would have tried the mash up.

The back page is usually my first stop when reading S.I. I'm sure he'll keep writing (his books are pretty decent, too) but wonder if he'll moving into t.v. time. Probably.

I'll look into these, thanks for the suggestions. I haven't heard of the authors so I'm always down with getting hooked up to good writers. Started this last night:

I think they let Bernie hang around a little longer than most teams would have, actually, because they love the guy.

Things I think are wrong with this country

I snicker whenever Jerry Remy pronounces Okajima's name. Okerjeemer. That's dialect, but it's still a pissah.

I'm with you on this. I think it's a pride thing with Torre, though. As if he has to prove himself to warrant the money. That doesn;t cut it for him, which is his option. He's not going to find that kind of money elsewhere, but again-the pride thing. I like the trend of performance-based incentives for managers and would like to see it for more players.

Students use "mines" for "mine" a lot. I realize there are cultural considerations but it's still wrong and requires correction.
-
Too many people use "alot." It's two words, folks.

Happy Birthday you crazy bastard.

I'm not intentionally trying to play Devil's Advocate here (really) but I don't see this, either. How much should espn/sports media be talking about the team that has 8 days off before they play again? It's not headline sports news while there's still another series going on and the most expensively payrolled team is going through a managerial change. This stuff rightly takes the headlines over a team dormant for a week, no?

Both are big market teams with huge fan bases. Both teams pretty much continuously field high caliber/post-season-worthy clubs. ESPN is also based in CT, which happens to be between NY and BOS and originally covered both teams extensively when the network formed. I'd say the love affair is justified. Happy ghey, right?

According to the park rules at Jacob's Field, if the ball hits the top part (the flat part) of the yellow it's in play. The way the ball caromed and the slo-mo camera shots indicated this is where it hit. I think they got it right.

Yeah. The Rockies were still six games back and third in line for a Wild Card spot in mid-September (wow, only 4 weeks ago), which makes their story even more remarkable.

Pschaw. Schilling is known as a great post-season/big-game pitcher. Maybe he will get manhandled, but smart money says he has a big game. Sunday is a different matter all together.

Correct.
