  1. Just got back from the Rockies game a little while ago and caught the highlights of Buehrle's no-hitter. Good for him. It's always a great thing to watch a guy do this. And in just over 2 hrs. Yipes. It got me thinking that a lot of no-nos seem to come early in the season in recent memory. Apparently I'm wrong. A break down of all the no-hitters tossed shows August and September as the most prevalent months for no-hitters: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/charts/no-...o-hitters.shtml And, just because I love lists like this, here's one of all the no-hitters thrown in MLB history, for those
  2. I can only assume that "not in love with [my] tone" actually means "I would love to buy you lots of beer and a lap dance."
  3. Is that supposed to be a crack at the NRA or something, mb?
  4. I really appreciate sarcasm. Really.
  5. Come to my party on Saturday. The more, the merrier. RSVP by Thursday. Remember, three's a crowd. xoxo, Lammy
  6. I noticed the "liking Black Flag and GD at the same time" comment on the back of a particular RA album, too. It's really not too far of a stretch, though, considering Greg Ginn (original member of Black Flag and founder of SST records) is/was a huge deadhead. He's said the Dead are his favorite band and had a huge impact on his music. A lot of the bands who rose from the ashes of Punk/post-Punk in the early 80s make the same claims (particularly the musical influence part): Jane's Addiction members, Meat Puppets, etc.
  7. I think I need to re-figure how to do this when I get home. I've got two Jane's versions of the tune, I'll hook you up with both after work today.

  16. Is there a campus the size of Vt that could have handled this much differently? I doubt it. How does an institution handle/prepare for a catastrophe like this? Should they run drills for "what ifs" in case of a killer bee infestation? A terrorist attack? I'm not trying to be smarmy about this, but it was an event that cannot possibly be prepared for. I can only assume the best of intentions on the part of the President of the school and the Police department/campus security. Looking back at what should have been done only helps in preparing for future events. I'd hate to see colleges
  17. Already being reported that he had some problems and had been referred to campus counseling. There were some quotes from a teacher of his. Also, the letter he left behind was papparently pretty disturbing with mention of paranoid/delusional thoughts. I'll try to find the link.
  18. VT President defends security/response: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/17/campus.security/index.html I believe I heard/read that the police responding to the early morning double murder may have thought it to be a murder-suicide initially, too. Which might account for the initial low-key emails. Just throwing that out there.
  19. The "person of interest" who now turns out to be the same gunman in both cases, may have been observed leaving the scene (as well as the campus) of the first crime scene(the double murder in the dorm). The police were basing that information on how to handle the scene, from some reports. It's easy to point fingers at what should have been done, but I'm not ready to point fingers at the president of VT or the police just yet. As has been stated, how the hell do you "lock down" an enormous campus? What if the police/president believed the gunman to have fled the campus after the first shoot
  20. I always go with "What's Up" by the 4 Non Blondes. Wretched drivel that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, even just hearing a bar or two of it.

  22. Wow. Glad you're ok and sorry you have to go through a first-hand experience like this. Any insight you can give (or feel like giving) that the media is missing would be appreciated. I understand if you aren't up to it, though.
  23. Wow. Just heard about this (in training all morning). 31 dead already. Have they caught the person(s)? I went to Roanoke College just down the road. creepy shit.
