  1. Yep, and anyone foolish enough to still risk it for a few bucks had a screw loose and (almost) deserved what they got. I wouldn't wish the ridiculous penalties enforced on folks back then slinging doses (many are STILL incarcerated because of this) but come on, everyone knew the price for getting caught....
  2. My buddy (big GD guy) went to Lockin last year and said hand's down best fest he's ever been to and that he didn't think it was that big, crowd-wise, actually. Hmmm. If Phish and GD reunion band do play, as rumored, it's going to be a massive influx to what the first two years saw in terms of crowds.
  3. I read the above yesterday, too, (and in the middle of Aces... currently), and while I don't necessarily doubt his word and/or "sources" it's been said by more than one person to take his word with a grain of salt. Makes sense, though, as the Furthur split-up set the stage for a 50-year series of shows. It seems like he's just bringing up old news with the JK/Billy K thing and Phil camp/Kimock stuff, though. Whatever set up they have, it's such a shell of what the GD were, anyway, that it's hard for me to get too excited about this "reunion". More like a glorified Furthur, no?
  4. Her voice has changed very little since her career has started. She's something else.
  5. The Night Stalker, starring Billy Madison's dad as Kolchak, was a good one to give you the creeps as a kid. I think it ran for only a season or two but it seemed like it was on forever.
  6. Tell us all about it, you tease!
  7. Big fan of Cannery Row and Tortilla Flat and enjoyed Ironweed, as well, Pretty sure Kennedy won a Pulitzer for it, too.
  8. To be fair, I know plenty of people who actually died during each of those administrations.
  9. Ha! The TDKs were from a trade, in which the other guy got Maxell XLIIs,,,,,I didn't mind TDKs. Shit, I'd put them on Scotch tape if it was a pressing need with no other options....
  10. I have most of my tapes in huge tupperwear bins after my ex took the cabinet I had them organized in years ago. I used to have every tape in order by date (over 900 tapes) and very organized. Well, I've lost those organizational skills over the years and went searching for this show last night to no avail. I know the handwriting on it, that it's on a TDK (brown label), etc. Going to resume the search tonight because I want to hear the show again now, and I'd prefer to hear it on that old faithful of a tape....
  11. That 11.6. 77 Binghamton has been a long-standing fave of mine. Even have have a sbd tape of it for years. The second set is top-notch playing. JK was an original member.
  12. JK has his own band and plays solo, too (coming around here next week). Good stuff. I think Warren fits nice in most any situation, including The Dead. kills it on tunes like Stella Blue, SOTM, etc.
  13. That doesn't mean you don't "swing that way," though.....
  14. How do you know you don't?
  15. Should've winked at him and asked if he had a date for Arbor Day yet.
  16. Not saying anyone here, per se, but it's amusing seeing the praise for Furthur after several years of people carping on them as a "cover" band, etc. You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone, and all. I always had fun at Furthur shows but it's not like I spin Furthur discs at home often. They were fun to catch but I'm not too sad about a demise, either.
  17. With due respect to former and current military people, because I have a right to vote doesn't automatically equate to me being disrespectful or shameful to deceased U.S. militia if I choose not to vote. I have the right to bear arms, too, and choose not to exercise that right. Is that shameful and disrespectful? Again, Devil's Advocate here. Guess I just don't like being told what to do, and that includes voting.
  18. Whose got time for that, though?
  19. This seems contradictory to me. Playing a bit of the Devil's Advocate here, but I disagree that people need to be engaged. In fact, disengagement can be quite liberating. Also, if the election system is broken (per your admission), how will voting and being a part of that broken system positively affect the diseased entrenchment? You have 30 seconds to reply.
  20. The hell are you talking about?
  21. WSP was in town over the weekend. They do a nasty version of "Dirty Business". Not as nasty as some live NRPS versions, but nasty.
  22. My brother practices in Hamden. True story.
  23. Today I find a place to drop off my ballot because I never got around to buying a couple stamps to mail it in.
