I like the first Boston album okay, but it's really annoying the way that guy keeps writing the name as BOSTON. Is he writing it that way for emphasis, or is it some sort of acronym?

That's funny--when he was promoted from Hershey last year, that was in the lead paragraph in every story about him. He seems like a great guy. And that acting experience really pays off in the cheesy commercials he does for a Mercedes dealer here in the DC area. I am greatly relieved to see the Caps make it out of the first round for the first time in over a decade, but history is not on their side against Pittsburgh.

My wife and I took our honeymoon in Quebec city. Highly underrated--it's like Europe, but cheap and close by.

Ironically, that's even cheaper than I paid for the presale, because the presale made me pay $8.50 for standard shipping. My total was $51.50.

Turns out that Mr. Oberst will be opening for Wilco in July, so I'll be seeing his new band. I'm not at all familiar with his stuff, but I guess I'll check it out.

They seemed to have a smattering of seats for the presale in lots of different sections. If you get in on the public sale promptly (Saturday at noon, I think), you can probably do better. I considered holding out for Saturday to get a pit ticket, but decided to get my ticket-buying out of the way.

Agreed on the responsiveness. This was quick and easy (although the $8.50 mailing fee is absurd). It probably helps that Wolf Trap is a relatively large venue for Wilco. I didn't have trouble getting presale seats for Merriweather 2 years ago, but I've never gotten anywhere near a presale at the 9:30.

I did well, I think. Row K center at Wolf Trap. I don't think they had "pit" tickets available in the presale, but maybe I just missed them. It looked like the presale had a scattering of seats in different sections, not just the best seats. For those of you who were shut out (and even those who weren't but got less-desirable seats), you can try again in the regular sale. You might do better, especially in the larger venues.

I understand why they didn't explore all of the potential narrative threads they raised, and I don't think anyone is arguing that they should have fleshed all of them out. LouieB's complaint, as I understand it, is that they tease up several threads and then go nowhere with them. I tend to agree with him. I was also a little bummed out to see that as well. I attended the second 9:30 show (but not the first), and I've already heard it a bunch of times via the really good audience recording that circulated on etree. It is kind of cool to have a soundboard recording that's different from the audience recording, but I would have liked to have had a clean version of, say, the Tipitina's show. I'm a little surprised they used the second 9:30 show for the full-show download, because (1) it's not actually in the film; and (2) the crowd kind of sucked, which comes out in the banter ("Are you guys ha

Okay, here's how I got it to work. I had to quit my browser and then try again, going to the members section of the Roadcase: http://wilcoworld.net/roadcase/members/member.php Once I logged in, I was subscribed to both the Ashes audio and the DC show, as shown in links in the upper left corner of the page. Clicking on the DC link started a download of the show. Hope this helps some of you who might be having trouble with this...

I got the Ashes movie audio downloads, but not the full DC concert. I was able to log back in and select the concert specifically, but I can't get it to download. Anyone else having any luck?

Watching Earl struggle with the pool net around his chest, I couldn't help but wonder why that gag hasn't been a comedy staple for decades. Stuck between the cars, and he can't get up because of the pole? That was some funny stuff.

Once the rumors about a Wilco show at Wolf Trap came out, I signed up for Wolf Trap's email list. I haven't received anything yet, so I don't know if they'll do any kind of presale or not. If they do, it'll probably be limited to season ticket holders. I'm not worried about getting tickets--it's a pretty big venue and won't sell out within 4 minutes (I'm talking to YOU, 9:30 Club!)--but I'd like to get really good ones.

The owners of the 9:30 club also own both Merriweather and IMP Productions, which produces shows at other DC-area venues (e.g. Constitution Hall). I was/am also hoping for a Merriweather show, but it looks like we'll get Wolf Trap, which is pretty cool in its own right (and actually closer to my house than MPP).

Sometimes they take a few days (or longer) before putting streamed shows up on the website as archives, but yes, it will most likely be up there for awhile.

I don't know how they could justify re-releasing YHF any time soon, except perhaps to include all the demo versions that most of us on here already have. Usually there's some reason a band can at least act like the re-release is necessary--e.g., the record company and/or producer screwed it up in some way (see: Pearl Jam's Ten). But with YHF in particular, it's pretty clear that the band put out the record they wanted to make at that time, and they couldn't blame the label or the producer if they wanted to (and I don't think they do). Chara's a terrific defender, and I wouldn't have a problem if he won it, but this is Green's year. 30 goals (actually 31) is pretty awesome for a D-man, and he did it in 68 games. He also is among the league leaders in +/- (ahead of Chara, no less) and ice time per game (although Chara has a slight edge here). I think Green doesn't get enough credit for his defense sometimes because his offensive game is so good. He's not as good a straight defender as Chara is, but he's got a great all-around game.

In case anyone's still interested in the original topic, the online Wilco store sent an email today confirming that all purchasers of AOAF through April 27 will get a download of one complete show featured in the film, in addition to the downloads of all the audio tracks featured in the film.
