Romney's got lots of mo, the electoral college is not in his favor. If Obama doesn't mess up the storm recovery bad, it won't be enough. Wouldn't be surprised Romney won the popular, but Obama the electoral. -
Hey, I just listened to that on Friday. Fantastic!

Except that these states don't get as much pull in congress as ny, tx, ca, etc. -

You're kidding, right? The candidates would go from L.A., to N.Y., to Chicago, to Houston, to Miami, to D.C. Any state with fewer than 10 congressional districts would be completely ignored. Period. Simple as that. As far as being anyone's proxy, I have no idea how Jules feels about the electoral college and I really don't care. -

If our Constitution were being written today, our leaders would have been too dumb to come up with the electoral college. State issues matter. The electoral college is a brilliant way to give ALL the people a voice, but force the candidates to address issues state by state. I am glad our founding fathers also had the foresight to make it difficult to amend the Constitution so this will hang around for awhile. I recently heard of a legislative proposal to work around the electoral college w/o amending the Constitution. I hope that fails as well. I am admittedly biased being from a fairly -
I'm surprised he survived the Castro flap.

George W. was dumb. Not every Republican is dumb. Mitt certainly had some help from his dad, but one doesn't build up a business reputation like his and get elected as the Republican governor of Maasachusetts by being anything less than smart as a tack. Right now, he's trying to get elected by appealing to the base and draw in lots of independents and moderates, so he often falters or waffles in his statements. Obama is very smart, but I don't think it's the slam dunk you think it is. Sorry for answering before Jules. -

We're dumb, you're smart. You should feel compassion for us rather than disdain. -

Hasn't that been well established already? IRDB sure thinks so. -
I play my kids (7 year old boy girl twins), all sorts of music I like. Wilco, Old 97's, The Band, Beatles, and "kindie" rock (mostly Justin Roberts and Dan Zanes). Nevertheless, they have glommed onto the tween pop scene. I am confident that someday, they will want to return to the good stuff.

People on the interwebs say he's doing we'll. I think he's cantankerous. But what do I know? I didn't think Obama stunk last week. -

Comes with being veep. For example, Quayle wasn't bright, but he was using the spelling provided by a teacher when he misspelled potato(e) in a classroom photo op. He was derided mercilessly for that when it should have instigated a discussion about the quality of public education. -

Yes, because we all live in a world where it's either Marx or Ayn Rand. Good lord. -

I think you probably just nailed the key difference between those who support a wider social safety net (welfare state), and those who do not. A conservative like me is more likely to believe the more people know they can always depend upon the generosity of the state, the less reason there is to be productive. -

I'm not burned out. But I wouldn't go to any more shows on this current tour. Went to 2 of them. BBop, I am not.

I know you're joking, but other than cost, I haven't heard a convincing argument against this. The Biden/Paul debate will be good. Paul will stay on message, Biden will shoot from the hip. With Biden, it's big risk, big reward or fail. Still wished we had Biden / Christie. -

1. Drug tests are as expensive as you want to make them. If drug testing were random, you could test a small sampling. Even a small sample could have a deterrent effect. 2. If the vast majority of drug tests come back negative, it would go a long way to correct rather than perpetuate the stereotype.
