  1. I say yes. For example, I like Pete Townsend's prowess as a strummer. Never impressed by his solos. Hence, he's, IMO, a great rhythm guitarist, not so much as a lead. Did d. Boon ever play a solo in his life?
  2. Jumpin Jack Flash is overplayed, but that riff pretty much defined the Stones. Same with Satisfaction. Most underrated Stones Song is Monkey Man Those 3 are on my list. Can't Always Get What You Want Sympathy For the Devil Street FIghting Man Gimme Shelter Tumbling Dice Paint it Black Under My Thumb I reserve the right to change my mind a few dozen times. I thought about Miss You, Beast of Burden, even Waiting on a Friend.
  3. Saw Low playing at Northern Lights record store next to First Avenue before a Bob Mould show. Can't say I ever became a huge fan, but admired the advancement of their career.
  4. I've listened to the first 3-4 tracks and I'd say he's still in great form. I like his voice and the music. Need to pay more attention to the lyrics, but it's great stuff so far.
  5. Louie, others who teach or a related to people to teach in CPS: Does the union have funds to pay the striking teachers anything substantial while the strike is on?? Could get really scary financially. As there has been talk of strike for months, I hope people were able to build up some savings, but yikes!
  6. Peter Buck. Also, not a personal favorite, but very influential, Johnny Marr.
  7. I teach. I have no thoughts to share except that accountability, fairly administered (difficult but important to define) is huge.
  8. Sterling was my 1st thought. Love Lou's tone in the late 80s and early 90s. Keith and Pete are up there too.
  9. I'm pretty sure there's nothing subjective about it. Maybe not the worst, but just plain bad.
  10. Happy birthday to the funniest damn vc'er around.
  11. You can't have a good laugh at your own expense?
  12. Let's not forget that Newt and Bill shut the whole damn thing down. They didn't always play nice. Also, if it weren't for the shutdown, Monica probably wouldn't have had suc easy access to Bill. In the long run, though, I think the shutdown kind of forced compromise.
  13. Bush Sr. is too hobbled by age and no, they're not particularly proud of Bush Jr. Those are the only living Republican presidents. There was a rumor of a hologram Reagan. Too bad that didn't happen.
  14. It's really been a matter of what's easier to download. People aren't paying for video content because they appreciate the art more, they're paying for it because it's much more difficult for the average consumer to steal.
  15. Sorry, I was crossing my attention between 2 threads. Still the MP3 though.
  16. I'd say that's the MP3, but I suppose it could be bad music journalism, you may just be onto something there.
  17. I always just sang "Candyfloss doo doo doo doo doo."
  18. I don't think the trials were the issue. It's the inane location. Security would have been a nightmare.
  19. You probably ended up liking the whole thing then. There were only one or two tracks that I didn't dislike. This Land is Your Land was one of them. I'm glad some people like it, but the LP as a whole does very little for me.
  20. Obama's in town today (Des Moines). I think he brought the National and Chris Cornell with him.
  21. Much more proud of my 2nd concert. The Police on their Synchronicity tour. 7th grade.
