Romney's statement on the UK and the Olympics... Wow. What on earth would compel him to say things like that.

1) Texas doen't stike me as a battleground state. 2) An ounce of prevention and all that. I don't even know why I keep coming back to this issue when it's not really important to me either way. I suppose it's not to persuade people that it's a good law, but that there are some decent people who support it and decent reasons to,support it so long as we make sure it's not such a burden to access a photo id.

I was just hoping to get an acknowledgement that there is some bipartisan support for this idea and it's not all about racist attempts to disenfranchise. I guess I'll have to rethink my opinion of Carter.

Six minutes of that kind of noise on NBC isn't bad.

The report of a commission headed by Jimmy Carter and James Baker to Build Confidence in U.S. elections: http://www1.american.edu/ia/cfer/report/full_report.pdf p. 18 (sect. 2.5) deals with their recommendation on photo IDs.

You excel at telling us what people you disagree with think. Yesterday, you told me why I am a conservative, today, you sum up Jules' beliefs.

Yep, like Geo. Lucas, Lou Reed has enough of my $$. -
That was a pretty entertaining 2 minutes. Here's a link to my favorite. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2012/07/wilco_lee_field.html#comment-937498 Admittedly, a large percentage of the commenters there probably aren't Vegan, but I always did picture Vegans as a little less high strung than many of the comments indicate.

I have a friend who saw him a few months ago and thought he was really reaching the end. I'm glad to see he's off the next tour. I hope he's not being pushed too hard for others' financial interests.

No one, not even Hannity is in the same ballpark as Limbaugh, left or right. But in terms of people who hold those from the other side of the aisle in contempt? About half of the MSNBC lineup. Maddow's pretty cool. I used to like Lawrence O'Donnell, but he's getting pretty grating. That Toure guy has said some pretty douchy things, Ed Schultz, Olbermann. Most commentators these days (probably always, but certainly now more than ever) preach to the choir rather than engage or persuade the other side. Clearly the right wing is better and louder at this than the left, but the left-wing medi

Sumbitted for your consideration. I am still on the fence on this issue. I wouldn't wind having this law in my state (Iowa), but I am not make sure it makes sense in larger states with fewer DMV offices like Texas. BTW, this article was tweeted by Iowa' Secretary of State who is really pushing for its passage. If you're going to read it, make sure to read the whole thing. Page 2 gives context to the pro side that I haven't seen much. http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Opinion/2012/0723/Voter-ID-laws-are-inherently-reasonable-not-racist-or-Republican

Any chance this changes their taping policy? I kind of doubt it as GD successfully sold live CDs.

your most anticipated releases of 2012

I've heard some good things about Bob Mould's Silver Age due out in September, I think. He hasn't had a solid release this century, so I'm not holding my breath. -
I liked the beginning, but the end sounded way off.

This is pretty much where I'm at right now. One could argue that the consequences for those most responsible have already been felt. Sandusky in jail for the rest of this life, Paterno fired and legacy forever tarnished (statue left standing or not), AD and President out. The message should be fairly clear that you don't cover this stuff up. However, since it was all done in the name of protecting the football program, the NCAA should sanction the program just to show the cover up failed to protect the program.

Heavy Metal Drummer as segue on Morning Joe on MSNBC.

I thought about taking my 7 year old twins to the free show in Sioux City. A lot of factors went into not going. A small one was Wilco's frequent use of strobes and my son's epilepsy. He's never had a strobe induced seizure, but combine the heat, noise, crowd, probably sleepiness... Seemed like a dangerous combination.

I've pretty much answered my own question here. I suppose people on the board of governors didn't provide proper oversight, or helped create the environment that allowed this to happen. Throw the book at the school. Five years, ten years, forever. Allow scholarship athletes to keep their scholarships or transfer and play w/o penalty.

Some have suggested that Penn State get the "death penalty" meaning they lose their football program indefinitely. I am not sure that's appropriate since all the offending officials (Paterno, Sandusky, AD, president) are gone. I could easily be convinced I am wrong. Did current boosters know?

Of course, bleedorange, that would lead to more government spending. Imagine how much in Texas. Big state, lots of DMV stations needed. A more efficient means might be mobile stations open once a month or so. Is it worth it to raise taxes to pay for this? Something for fiscal conservatives to think about. In Iowa, we have 99 counties, in pretty small land area. I'm pretty sure each has a DMV office, though I'm not sure. I would not oppose a photo ID law under those circumstances. KevinG, really the only reason I got worked up -- again I'm pretty open and not terribly passionate about

See now, the presentation of facts like this are much more useful in this discussion. Thanks for bringing that article to my attention. THAT is an unreasonable burden.

Your name shouldn't be Pope Keving II, it should be Nostra-fucking-damus. You knew it wouldn't be the last word after you asked me a direct question. Wow! Who should I bet on to win the next Super Bowl?? You really are a piece of work. I agree with a lot of this. Especially what they did in Iraq. But one question... (direct question, feel free to respond w/o me calling you out for going back on your last word statement). Let's say the type of fraud I suggest was used in Florida in 2000. Lots of big cities in an incredibly tight election. An easily swayed election. It wouldn't ha
