  1. It's a bad question. It's been answered plainly here. A better question would be why put so much effort trying to repeal a federal law so similar to one you promoted in Massachusetts? Or why do you want to completely repeal a law when you have supported so many of its individual tenets?
  2. You'd just a need a new law. Technically you'd need 60 Senators to make it filibuster-proof, but only 51 would have to vote in favor of a law to repeal.
  3. Pretty much anything a presidential candidate says they're going to do they mean to say they're going to lobby Congress to do.
  4. I agree with almost all of this except that SBS is in the same league. A couple of weak tracks, but I like it as much as AGIB, BT, ST.
  5. I don't see how you can like the Wilco catalog enough to search out a forum to discuss them and think that W(TA) is anything other than their worst or 2nd worst album. It is an opinion to be sure, but it's so clearly an opinion that it doesn't need to be prefaced by "I think". Now, many people around here would tell you it's not just their worst, but not a very good album no matter who put it out. I like it. There's only a few songs I dislike, but compared to the rest of their catalog, (I think) it's just not that good.
  6. 10 years, wow! I would've have guessed 5 max. Time flies. The Who had 2 of the most talented musicians on the planet (Keith and John) playing one of the best songwriter's material. Roger isn't too bad at singing them either.
  7. Yep. Gained a whole new respect for those guys watching this. Esp. Neal Peart. He's had it rough, losing his daughter and all. But has anyone handled fame better than this guy. Widely considered the best living rock drummer, but can be somewhat anonymous in the general public. That's having your cake and eating it too.
  8. That is a really bad article. Uncle Tupelo is a Chicago-area based band? Does anyone really think country when they think Woody Guthrie? How about folk? The Whole Love was their first foray into electronics? Spiders, Bull Black Nova.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U4ZhFDFYvE 1st full episode of Newsroom
  10. This England / Italy match will not earn any American fans. So little offense from England. Some great saves, by their keeper, though.
  11. The Evel Knievel toy reminded my of the 6 million dollar man action figure with the rubber skin the rolled up revealing his bionic muscles.
  12. But the law does not. Wilco and the Dead and lots of other bands are/were okay with taping. That's their right and it doesn't seem to have hurt their bottom line. They (and their labels, publishing companies, etc) own the right to their music, they get to legally control how to distribute. Anything that violates that is theft, period!
  13. I love the concept of writing and promoting a book is another way of selling out. Good lord!
  14. Ummm... I call bullshit w/o some sort of documentation.
  15. I really liked Lowery's piece and it's made me reflect upon how I acquire music. I purchase a lot, but also use free (some legal, some not; some band-approved, some not) to acquire music. I look at all my old Maxell tapes and realize it's something I've done my whole life, it's just now the quality is so superior. Also, lots of my purchased music was at a huge discount through BMG and Columbia House, which no longer exist. Anyhow, I don't think there's much of a moral, ethical, or legal leg to stand on to defend illegal (Spotify, Pandora, etc. are all perfectly legal, right??) acquisition
  16. 1. I'm not sure why you think your post is crass. 2. Just because he doesn't get suspended doesn't mean alcohol isn't a relapse.
  17. Sorry, I misread your post, thought you said his issues were "in his past". Hamilton is a great guy, no doubt. He attacked his demons head on. I would hope he'd continue to face them with honesty. It just seems like flu-like symptoms and dehydration are often code words used for something else.
  18. He had a relapse with alcohol four months ago. I think most recovering addicts would tell you that the temptation never goes away.
  19. I will take his virus at face value. By all appearances, it appears to be an accurate report. I want you to re-read these 2 sentences you typed and explain them. He is a recovering alcoholic/drug addict. How would his issues with alcohol last off season not be a relapse? Alcohol isn't a relapse, but drugs are?
  20. I sure hope Josh Hamilton's dehydration is truly due to a virus. My gut tells me it's another relapse. I hope I'm wrong.
