  1. Just watched that online. Blew me away! 48:00 in, Bob Mould's Black Sheet of Rain. Wow, just wow!
  2. Yeah, my plan was to sit up at the tables during Nick Lowe, but decided right away that there would be no way to hear the show from there. Kind of a disappointing reception for him. But I think he knows what the deal is when you're an opener.
  3. I don't the the issue here is whether people comprehend the definition of turning point. You think mixing up the set list a bit constitutes a turning point, others disagree.
  4. Would rather hear IATTBYH than IMTWLY, but no complaints about this show at all!
  5. WOW. Nearly 4 years since I saw these guys. Hard to believe it's been that long. What a great, great show! Honored and lucky to have seen the show. I'm each show I've seen has been better than the one before.
  6. They're human. A show is an interactive experience and they, for who knows what reason, didn't feel it. Cut 'em some slack. You enjoyed the show. Don"t let the Internet change your opinion.
  7. Not sure how someone could like North Hills and be disappointed in Nothing is Wrong. No sophomore slump there. I can see not liking the band altogether, but if you like North Hills, I think Nothing is Wrong has a very similar sound, only better songs. There are 4 or 5 killers on there and no filler I can think of.
  8. We often thought about eloping. My in-laws had a nasty, nasty divorce and it just seemed easier especially in the depths of planning. We knew many of our friends and family would be disappointed, so we soldiered on. Glad we did. To me, there's nothing like a wedding. All your closest friends and family there to celebrate. Even with the nasty divorced in-laws. Well worth it. On the other hand, I know many elopers who have know regrets. You could always elope for now and have a major reception down the road.
  9. The wife and I were just discussing this one. I may have posted it before.
  10. Lou Reed certainly is an influential guitarist. Talented? Moderately. But w/o his work with the Velvets you have a hard time getting to the Stooges and punk. Richard Thompson is hilarious.
  11. I love Rhett, but his solo stuff (& some wold argue 97s, but I would disagree) has been uneven at best. I can't commit until I have some sense of quality. Cool that you got the lyric sheet!
  12. I love the Stooges, but they're more important than they are good.
  13. You're getting your ass pepper sprayed, Maude.
  14. This is true. I understand people not liking Grateful Dead, but I don't understand really thinking they suck. An collection of incredibly talented musicians who play together as well as any band ever has while playing some very well written songs. You don't like jamming, that's fine, I get it. It doesn't mean they suck.
  15. I don't care if they're nominated (remote), I don' care if they win. The Grammy is the least significant performing arts award there is. If they do, by chance, perform, I would tune in, but otherwise wouldn't care in the least bit.
  16. They weren't. That's kind of my point. Excessive? Probably. Shocking and outrageous? Less so, to me, than lots of other examples of police action.
  17. The more I consider the situation, the more I think the crowd would not have become unruly once they began to forcibly arrest the protesters. The use of pepper spray was probably excessive. I don't have all the facts, but I doubt the video showed all the facts either. I'm glad there will be an investigation. Having said that, however, I think a warning would be a major factor. If the police told them they were going to use pepper spray, then everyone had it within their ability to avoid being sprayed. Also, I don't understand the comment from the retired police officer in the MSNBC vide
  18. I am not trying to pick a fight here, seriously. I hope I live my whole life and never have to face the pain that pepper spray must induce. My viewing of this video makes it appear that the police did not do this without any warning. Had the protesters been asked to disperse? Did they refuse? Were they in violation of the law? If the answers to any of these questions is no then a totally agree with 66rebilac. If the answer to all is yes, then how best should the police subdue the protesters to make sure they do not become a threat as arrests begin? There may be other ways, I am no expe
  19. What's the story here? Did they have a permit? Were they trespassing. I'm sure the pepper spray hurt like shit, but when you participate in civil disobedience, you assume certain risks. It certainly appears to me from that video that it was clear the police were going to use the spray. If the protesters wanted to avoid the spray, the could have moved. If they were in violation of the law (and again, I don't know if they were), then I see little wrong with this. Kent State this is not.
